Over eighty competitors will contest the action packed 17 event programme, including Championship classes for the Shell Advance WA Superbikes (Incorporating both Production and Formula 1 Superbikes), 125GP, 250 Production, Supersports, Superstocks, the Clubman Series (entry level open to newcomers and C grade riders on unlimited capacity – 125cc to 1000cc) plus plenty of action in the three wheeled sidecar class.

Superbike riders Stuart Adams and Scott Tulk will now go head to head to challenge for this year’s Championship title, with reigning 2002 Champion Sam Reynolds now sidelined from injuries received in his first local race meeting for the season at the opening round last month.

Having taken the race 1 win, Reynolds set a blistering pace with the fastest lap at 0:57.7153 sec. lapping within striking distance of the track lap record set by Adam Fergusson (Team Honda Australia) in 2000. Race fans will be disappointed to hear that Suzuki rider Sam Reynolds’ racing career is likely to over after suffering severe nerve damage to his right arm in a high speed crash at the top of “skyline” on the first lap of race 2 of the Superbikes at round 1 in May. Reynolds is currently recuperating at Royal Perth Rehabilitation Hospital, but is expected to be back at the track round 2 spectating.

Cully’s/Hammond Yamaha rider Stuart Adams was the second fastest rider of the day at a 0:58.6146 finishing in 2nd place to Reynolds in Race 1 and taking both wins in Races 2 and 3 from Russell Nash aboard the Rural Building Company’s 1000cc Yamaha. North Beach rider Craig Humphrey finished 3rd overall in the Superbike class with local Wanneroo lad Ben Stronach taking out both the Formula 1 Superbike class and the race win in the B Grade Series aboard his R1 Yamaha.  Points standing after Rd 1: Adams 70 pts, Nash 56, Humphrey 45, Evans 33 ,Alderson 26, Reynolds 25.

Supersport action was fast and furious and round 2 should prove to be no different with the expected clash between Russell Nash and Strett Cull . Round 1 produced three different winners from three races. Nash (Yamaha R6) recorded a commanding win from Strett Cull (Cully’s Yamaha R6 ), Honda riders Alan Watts and Wayne Smith with Michael Quante in 5th place aboard the new ZZRR600 Kawasaki. In Race 2 the battle heated up with Cull and Nash coming together, both of them ending up in the sand trap at Novus corner. Minor championship points were retained when both riders managed to remount and take the chequered flag.  Points standings after Rd 1: S Cull 54, W Smith 54, R Nash 52, M Quante 37, A Watts 36, J Boland 29, C Galbraith 26, M Booty 25, B Soper 24, P Nathan 20.

The new Superstock class open to C and D grade riders on slightly modified street bikes, was run in conjunction with the Supersports. Twelve riders fronted the line in the opening round, with Chris Taylor (Honda 600) the overall class winner on the day, closely followed by Mike Ward (Yamaha R6) and Steve Carlton (KawasakiRR600).

37 riders have entered the very competitive entry level class - Clubman Series supported by Two Wheel Wreckers. With a varying format over the three races it is hard to pick a round winner, but Suzuki rider Steve Alderson (Suzuki 1000) reigned victorious at round one taking both race wins on the day, hotly pursued by newcomer Mark Schnierer (Yamaha R1) from Mike Ward and Gary Evans. Race one consists of 2 x 4 lap sprints with races 2 and 3 being gridded as handicaps. If the front runners continue to lap consistently at 62’s they could find themselves handicapped out of this Series, which is aimed at entry level riders, and into the Championship events. Points standing after Rd 1: S Alderson 50, M Schnierer 40, M Ward 32, G Evans 24.

Along with 250 Production and 125 GP racing, the Sidecars will be another feature of the day.
Ten sidecars will again front to the line in Round 2. The pressure was on at the opening round when Lindsay Fagan & passenger Ash Voice found themselves racing neck and neck with son Anthony and passenger Bruce Rodgers. This resulted in both Teams wanting the line going into Novus corner for the final lap in race 2, with Lindsay Fagan ending in the sand trap. Mark Golesworthy and Roy Brittain will need to step up and put the pressure on young Fagan this meeting, as dad Lindsay will be heading east to the next round of the National Championships at Winton.
Points Standing after Rd 1 : A Fagan/Rodgers 50, Golesworthy/Brittain 36, Watson, Jeal 29, Foreman, Applby 23, L Fagan/Voice 20.

Sundays programme gets underway at 9am with practice till 11am and the first race getting underway at approximately 11.45am.
