The Bucket Racing Association of NSW has voted for the creation of an exciting new race category at it’s recent annual general meeting.

The BRA, in conjunction with the Post Classic Racing Association of NSW will run a MotoLite race class over 6 championship rounds in NSW.

The BRA MotoLite class is open to converted 80cc motocross machines, Moriwaki 80 race bikes, single cylinder 175cc four stroke machines and 150cc twin cylinder four stroke machines.

This class is designed as an inexpensive route into road racing for both beginners and experienced riders alike. Restrictions on frame and engine modifications are relatively open, offering the rider the opportunity to develop and tune his machine.

BRA President Andrew de Jersey said “This is a terrific class, you can build a machine to your own specifications or turn up and ride a ready made race bike”.

The BRA has also enhanced the existing bucket race classes and will run the two race classes together on the grid whenever the field and grid sizes permit.

Bucket racing stalwart Ken Lindsay, who originated these fundamental changes to this inexpensive code of road racing said “We’ve got something going for everyone now, traditional commuter bike racing and a brand new breed of racers that will create exciting racing for everyone – who knows, we might even find a future world champion amongst our midst!”
