27 year old Adam Fergusson is returning from America to compete with the Castrol Honda squad in the 2004 Shell Advance Australian Superbike Championship. 'Krusty' completes the full factory superbike line-up for Honda in Australia next year and will team up with Sydney charger Joshua Brookes in Honda's effort to wrestle the Australian Superbike Championship crown away from Suzuki with Honda's new CBR1000RR. Adam took up road racing late in 1993 and learnt his craft in the Australian 250 Production Championship. He was second in the 250 Production Championship to Kevin Curtain in 1995 after finishing third in the 1994 season. He then joined the privateer ranks in the Supersport category before graduating to a Superbike in 1998. He competed as a privateer in the 1998 season where he finished third overall before joining the Honda factory squad in 1999 to win the Production Superbike Championship. He also took third place in the Supersport Championship the same year. Adam then went to Europe in 2001 and scored two podium finishes with the Alpha Technik Castrol Honda World Supersport squad. He returned to Australia in 2002 before being recruited to the American Corona Suzuki Team to ride American Superstock and FX. He scored many podium finishes in his first AMA season and won the final round at Virginia International Raceway. Earlier in the year he scored a top ten finish with Corona squad at the Suzuka 8-Hour. He stayed on in America for 2003 and again competed at the Suzuka 8-Hour, this time teaming up with Anthony Gobert to another top ten finish in 2003. Adam finished fifth overall in the American FX Series and scored a few podium finishes. He also ended up fifth overall in the American Superstock Championship. Adam's return to Australian Superbike will be another ingredient that adds extra flavour to a recipe that is looking mighty impressive for the 2004 Australian Superbike Championship. |
