Kawasaki has been widely rumoured to have been in recruiting mode recently for a heavy assault on the 2004 Shell Advance Australian Superbike Championship. Their new weapon, the ZX-10R, looks to have the goods on paper and with good riders on board one would think that Kawasaki will be a serious threat for the title in 2004. The riders tipped for the hot seats are Jamie Stauffer and Robbie Baird.Jamie rode American Supersport this year and starred early on in the season when riding a privateer Yamaha R6 but his results then seemed to falter a little when he moved to a strong Suzuki team. Word has it that Jamie will be back in Australia for 2004 and is the hot favourite for a seat in this team. Robbie Baird has been racing in Canada in 2003 and this extremely hard charger is also back in Australia and his name has been linked with a ZX-10R ride for Kawasaki in 2004 Australian Superbike. However, nothing is official as yet, but if the new ZX-10R is on the pace, and this scenario eventuates, then this will be a formidable team indeed. |
