| After a weekend off for the
supercross boys it was back in to the swing of things when the
Australian SX Nationals visited Adelaide tonight for round five of
the ten round series. Practice had already taken its toll with
Mitch Hoad breaking his collarbone, while Wade Thompson possibly
cracked his wrist during practice. Adam Bailey also out with a
collarbone. The starts would be all important at this tight Adelaide circuit and in the first Pro-Lite heat it was Ryan Marmont on the two-stroke KTM that showed them away, just as he did in Melbourne a fortnight ago. Jono Porter was running second from Bronte Holland for a lap before Bronte struck trouble. No problem for Ryan Marmont though as he started to pull away from Porter, while Jye Harvey's third position started to come under attack from American star Greg Schnell. Then Greg Schnell and Jye Harvey had a coming together which brought both of them down, promoting Cody Cooper to second place and Jono Porter in to third. Adam Robinson fell a couple of times during this heat, in fact everyone looked to be having a few problems adapting to the tight and slippery layout. Apart from series leader Ryan Marmont of course who was dominating out in front. Ryan was also the first Pro-Lite rider to record a 30 second lap time with a 30.9.
Next up was the second Pro-Lite heat and here it was Daniel Reardon who got away well, Adam Cini right with him and Paul Broomfield right on their tail. Bradleigh Thompson nearly stalled on the line and lost plenty of ground but got straight back in to the mix of things. Daniel Reardon was emulating Ryan Marmont's performance in the first heat though as he pulled away out in front, Adam Cini and Paul Broomfield the next best. Broomfield closed on Cini a little in the closing laps but Cini held on to his second place while Daniel Reardon scored a convincing win.
Mitch Hoad was missing from the gates as the riders formed up for the third Pro-Lite heat, the Suzuki rider broke his collarbone in practice which has put him out of this event and possibly the rest of the series. Cameron Sinclair got the holeshot this time , Daniel McCoy and Cody Mackie right with him. Mick Macdermid also running strongly. As the laps counted down Daniel McCoy started to challenge Sinclair for the lead but Sinclair responded well and picked up the pace again. Cody Mackie was also running a fantastic pace and sticking right on the back of McCoy lap after lap. McCoy then made a small mistake on lap four which allowed Mackie through to second place. But the diminutive Wollongong boy was not settling for that, he started to close on Sinclair as they got the last lap board. But a small mistake early on that lap cost him and Sinclair took the strong win. Mackie 2nd, McCoy 3rd.
Next out were the junior pilots up for their first race of the night. Wade Thompson has been the dominant force thus far but a stumble or two in Melbourne spoilt his perfect record, and a fall during practice has him very uncomfortable for this race. Ford Dale got a great run off the line, Thompson then tried to put a move on the inside but had to ease out of that move, allowing Matt Moss to take second place. Thompson then quickly dispensed with Moss and set out after Dale, just as he closed on to the back of the young Queenslander Dale unceremoniously dumped it, which of course meant that Thompson inherited the lead. Matt Moss then seemed to get his second lungs and the Nowra boy closed on to the tail of Thompson who seemed to be slowing a little, that heavy fall in practice taking its toll on the Mount Gambier star. But Thompson held on for the win from Moss, Dalle-Molle came home third.
