The CDR/Boost Mobile/Yamaha team has come away from round five of the Australian Supercross Nationals in Adelaide last night with two podium finishes.

Both Cameron Taylor and Daniel McCoy finished their respective finals in third place while Troy Carroll, returning from injury finished a respectable sixth.

Daniel McCoy was let down by his starts in both the semi final and final which saw the Pro Lites contender forced to fight his way through the pack.

McCoy was delighted to be back on the podium but identified he was going to have to put in a considerable amount of training to overcome his form glitch.

“I was really pleased to come away with a podium tonight,” said McCoy “It has been way too long between drinks”

“At the moment my starts are letting me down badly and I am constantly fighting my way back through the field, it is something I am really going to have to work hard on improving.

“I know if I get a good start I can win these races,” McCoy added.

Collecting fifteen points tonight Daniel McCoy is now sitting third in the Australian Supercross Nationals Championship.

Cameron Taylor had an extremely frustrating night after two incidents in the semi final forced him into the last chance repocharge.

Taylor won the repocharge then battled though the final with Suzuki’s Danny Ham for third place.

“It was great to get a podium finish tonight,” said Taylor. “It’s a good confidence booster going into the next round.

“I had a pretty frustrating night and having to race in the repocharge certainly didn’t help things.

Troy Carroll had good return to racing after missing the first four rounds of the championship due to a back injury sustained in the opening round of the Australian Supercross Nationals.

The 2003 Champion showed good form finishing third in both his heat and semi final and racing solidly in the final for an eventual sixth place.

The 20 lap final took its toll on Carroll who was only allowed to return to training on his bike earlier this week.

“It is great to be back and good to get a race under my belt,” said Carroll.

“After missing four rounds I found it a bit difficult to come back and keep up with race pace.

“Now I am back on the bike I will improve on tonight’s performance and I look forward to next weekends round,” said Carroll.

CDR/Boost Mobile/Yamaha team manager Craig Dack said he was pleased with the team’s results and felt they had turned the corner.

“It has been a difficult year,” said Dack. “It was good to have the full team out there tonight competing.

“I felt we regrouped since the last round and we will use tonight’s results as a solid base to build on for the rest of the season.

The CDR/Boost Mobile/Yamaha team will undergo some extensive training sessions in the lead up to round six of the Australian Supercross Nationals at Gosford’s Central Coast Express Advocate Stadium on Saturday 28th February.
