Next out were the
juniors, the shorter of which would obviously struggle to find their
footing in the muddy conditions. Ford Dale led them away from Luke
George, amazing that George got away so well as he is probably the
smallest guy in the field but he shows plenty of heart which wins
him plenty of fans. By the end of the first lap George had been
pushed down to fifth as the bigger lads started to work their way
forward.
Wade Thompson recovered from a poor start to scythe through the
field with consummate ease before he fell and lost plenty of places,
he also had a huge battle to kick his machine back in to life. Gianni Dalle-Molle
was there to take the advantage and inherited the lead. Ford Dale was
slowed up by Thompsons fall. Two laps later Thompson was still
trying to kick his Yamaha back in to life.
Alan Carter then seemed to come from nowhere to close on to the tail
of Dalle-Molle to threaten for the lead. But Dalle-Molle responded
to the challenge to take an impressive win, Carter a great second
place while Matt Moss rounded out the podium.

Pro Open Heat 1 Jay Marmont got the jump off the line from Greg
Schnell, the American pulling double duty this weekend by riding
both the Pro Open and Pro Lite events. Schnell immediately started
to pile the pressure on championship leader Jay Marmont. Jay then
seemingly let Schnell past him as he took his hand off the throttle
to remove his goggles. Once rid of the offending goggles Marmont put
his head down again and was back past Schnell less than half a lap
later. These two then left the rest of the field in their wake and
immediately started to lap riders as they stamped their authority
out in front.
But it was Jay who proved the class of the field once
again as he left Schnell in his wake. Brad Hibberd, Cameron Taylor
and Danny Ham the best pursuers, but they were no match for the pace
being set out front by Marmont as he carved his way through lapped
traffic. Jay put Danny Ham a lap down with a couple of laps still to
run and went on to take a clear win.

Pro Open Heat 2 Troy Dorron and Cheyne Boyd got away well but
the riders tangled early with Dorron being pushed back to the rear
of the field as a result. The track was really terrible by now and a
number of riders stopped at the bottom of the bridge to have
multiple goes at getting to the top, fighting the mud for
traction. Daniel Howley had to take three attempts to make it to the
top as he slid back to the bottom on his first two stabs at it.
Emerging from all the drama to a strong early lead was Troy
Carroll.
Jason Redding fell on the up-ramp to the bridge and slid back down
to the bottom under his machine. Next lap around it was Nathan Bates
who suffered the same fate on the up-ramp. Two laps later Daniel
Howley repeated the mistake to the huge entertainment of the crowd.
Carroll then went down in the whoops which enabled Cheyne Boyd to
close the gap and pass Carroll for the lead. Troy Dorron then pushed
Carroll down to third place in an impressive recovery from that
first lap fall.
Boyd went on to take a strong win from Dorron with Robbie Marshall
scoring third.
The battle for the Pro Open final looked to be shaping up as a
three-way KTM fight between Jay Marmont, Cheyne Boyd and Greg
Schnell with Hondas Troy Dorron also a looming threat.
