| After several pleasing
performances in the Supercross Nationals, the Kawasaki Racing Team’s
superstar 16-year-old, Toby Price, broke his right femur (thigh
bone) while practicing on his Supercross bike after coming up short
on a double jump. “I clicked a neutral and the back end kicked into the air on the take-off ramp,” said a disappointed Price. “The bike nosedived and I didn’t want to be near it when it landed so I tried to kick it clear, but my leg got tangled in the bars. “On Saturday night the doctors here in Maitland hospital pinned the leg – luckily it was a clean break in the middle of the bone, and I actually feel pretty good considering. The team sports physiotherapist Paul Hedger has booked me an appointment to see specialist Sports Physician Dr Neil Halpin in a couple of weeks. Dr Halpin looks after the Newcastle Knights so I’m happy I’ll be in good hands. I reckon I’ll be back in action in about eight weeks, so I’ll miss the last two rounds of the Supercross Nationals and maybe the first round of the Australian Motocross Championships worse luck.” With Toby out of action, the Kawasaki Racing Team will still have three riders in the ProLites class for the remaining two rounds of the Supercross Nationals – Paul Broomfield, Brent Landman and Adam Robinson. You can catch the team in action for Round 9 of the Supercross Nationals to be held in Brisbane at 7pm this coming Saturday evening. |
