Pro Open Semi 1
Troy Carroll scored the holeshot but Troy Dorron was immediately
on his case. Carroll responded though and eked out a small gap over
Dorron as the laps progressed. This pair has left the field miles
behind, the distant battle for third led by Adam Cini. Troy Carroll
ended up the clear winner over Dorron, Cini a very distant third.
Result 1.Carroll 2.Dorron 3.Cini 4.Scanlan 5.Hibberd
Pro Open Semi 2 No need of course for Cheyne Boyd to take to the
track for this semi as his position in the final was secured with
his heat win earlier tonight, likewise with team-mate Jay Marmont.
Lots of positions in that main event still up for grabs though in
the second Pro Open semi with Husqvarnas Matt McKenna getting the
holeshot and leading the opening laps while coming under pressure
from Danny Ham. Cameron Taylor and Lee Ellis also not far behind.
McKenna continued to lead as Carroll closed on Ham and the two
nearly had a huge coming together after the triple but somehow they
both came outside the other side okay. Carroll was hardly slowed by
the near miss though and went on to take the lead from McKenna on
the penultimate lap as Danny Ham then block passed his way past
McKenna on the final lap, Ellis also taking advantage to push
McKenna back to fourth after the Husqvarna rider had led nearly
every lap.
Result 1.Taylor 2.Ham 3.Ellis 4.McKenna 5.Surawski
Superpole Two blue and two orange was the make up for the
Superpole quartet, two Yamahas and two KTMs. Carroll and Taylor on
the blue machines, Jay Marmont and Cheyne Boyd on the orange bikes.
First away was championship winner Jay Marmont, the lap doesnt look
particularly quick but he records a 28.257 second lap. Boyd out next
in front of his home crowd, he starts this lap by clearing the
triple as compared to Marmont who only doubled the triple to start
his lap, Boyd had a small moment at the first turn but he looks
fast, and the timers prove it, a 27.3 scorcher. Troy Carroll clears
the triple to commence his lap, looking smooth but perhaps not as
fast as Boyd, 27.836 for second fastest with only Cameron Taylor to
go. Another one in front of his home crowd and starts his lap by
clearing the triple, looks faster than Carroll, he fluffs it at the
final turn though and still manages to score a 27.405, clearly if
not for that mistake on the final turn Taylor would have smoked it
in to first place but has to settle for second.
Result Boyd 27.381 Taylor 27.405 - Carroll 27.836 - Marmont
28.257 Pro
Lite LCQ Mitch Hoad was the only rider to make it through from the
Pro Lite LCQ.
Pro Open LCQ Nathan Brochtrup and Mat McKenna led the way in this
Pro Open LCQ. Brad Hibberd went down at turn one and did the splits
across his machine, maybe strained something in the process as he
was stuck there for quite some time. The top two going through to
the Pro Open main event from this one and Nathan Brochtrup looked
safe as they got the last lap board but McKenna had been passed by
Surawski. McKenna held on for second though and that final
spot in the Pro Open main event.
Juniors Race 3 Wade Thompson again gets a great leave but it was
Justin Carafa who led the way on the first lap. Thompson then went
down after overshooting the landing from the rhythm section. This
left Carafa with a clear lead over Ford Dale who was coming under
increasing attack from both of the Moss brothers. Thompson then got
back up and scythed his way through rider after rider to gain back
plenty of positions but there was no way he would catch the leaders.
Jake Moss then started to close on Carafa while Matt Moss and Ford
Dale had been pushed back by Gianni Dalle-Molle as he went through
to third place. Carafa takes the win.
Result 1. Carafa 2.J Moss 3.Dalle Molle 4.Dale 5.M Moss |
