Pro Lite – Main

All Ryan Marmont needed to do in this one was basically finish as Daniel Reardon failed to qualify for the final here tonight. But the pressure is not completely off Ryan, he must finish otherwise Reardon will be champion.

The riders seemed to be held a long time at the gates, Marmont away cleanly but Schnell and Cooper up front from Daniel McCoy. That was until McCoy fell at the end of the rhythm section, promoting Ryan Marmont to third. Cini was starting to pressure Marmont for that third position, Broomfield also not too far behind. Cody Cooper was right behind Schnell, he looked faster during the early laps but couldn’t find a way past. Daniel McCoy was trying hard to regain some ground but the Camden 20 year old fell again in his quest to move forward.

It was still Schnell out in front from Cooper with seven laps down, then a reasonable gap to Marmont who was coming under increasing attack from Cini for third place. McCoy goes down again, this time he might have scored a small injury as he got up a little weary. Bob Kiniry and Jye Harvey then went down together after Kiniry tried to make an aggressive move. Then on the triples Cini and Broomfield had a coming together which allowed Ryan Marmont to breathe a little easier, his third place now fairly safe.

Schnell had pulled a few lengths out on Cooper to make his lead fairly safe. Mitch Hoad was running fourth, but a fair way behind third placed Marmont. Schnell takes the win, Cooper second and with third place and the Pro Lites Championship under his belt comes Ryan Marmont.

Both the Pro Open and Pro Lites Championship trophies are to take pride of place at the Marmont’s Wollongong home, the Pro Open trophy with Jay’s name on it, the Pro Lite Championship with Ryan’s name on it.

Daniel Reardon’s tally still good enough for second overall in front of a swag of factory backed riders, Reardon the surprise packet this year, the kid obviously with a big future.

McCoy’s tally good enough to hold on to third place overall in the championship even after his worst performance of the year here tonight. But McCoy didn’t have much luck this season and will be looking to make up for that come round one of the Australian Motocross Championship which kicks off in around six weeks time.

Pro Open - Main

Well with the #1 plate already secured in both the Pro Open and Pro Lites for Team Motorex Team there was only one way their night can improve, that is if Cheyne Boyd could secure second place in the Pro Open Championship by recording a great performance here tonight.

He will have to overcome Troy Dorron, Cameron Taylor and Danny Ham in order to make that #2 his though, a tough ask here tonight but Boyd is looking good. It is hard to go past Jay for the win though, but Cameron Taylor has also been real fast here and really the win could go to any corner.

Jay Marmont and Cheyne Boyd get the jump, Danny Ham looking for a way past Boyd for second, he chooses his place and makes the pass stick. Troy Dorron then tries to shoulder Boyd out of the way at the bottom of the downramp, luckily Boyd manages to shrug it off as it would have been unfortunate if second place was decided with a shove off the track.

Jay Marmont out in front, Danny Ham second, Cheyne Boyd third, Troy Dorron fourth, Troy Carroll fifth, Cameron Taylor sixth, plenty of talent in this field. Boyd trying hard to close the gap to Ham but the riders running a similar pace, Troy Dorron was also close behind Boyd but getting a little untidy at times and having to pull off some good saves, Carroll was closing on him.

Carroll then went down after messing up his landing on the downramp as Cini also went down. Jay Marmont the leader from Danny Ham who was still holding the advantage over Cheyne Boyd, if the race finished in this order Dorron would take second overall while Ham and Boyd would tie for third in the series. But it is not over yet.

Dorron nearly fell off again but managed to just get back on the bike at the last second. Cameron Taylor really piling the pressure on Dorron. Jay Marmont puts Troy Carroll a lap down. Hoad still holding down second, Boyd not looking as though he can really mount a challenge on that position unless he pulls something out of his hat in the closing laps.

Ham then upped the wick and left Boyd behind as he closed within striking distance of Jay Marmont. Five laps to run and Ham is definitely has a chance for the win. Jay Marmont nearly went down after touching with Mat McKenna as he put him a lap down. This was just the opportunity Ham needed as he capitalised to close within a bike length of Marmont, four laps still to run.

Ham takes the lead up the inside of Marmont with a clean pass. Troy Dorron running fourth, but coming under attack from Cameron Taylor.

Jay Marmont goes down, his machine still running, he remounts but Ham has the win in the bag now unless something goes dreadfully wrong.

Jay remounts in second place and comes home in that position, the win gives Ham third place overall in the Pro Open Championship. Third place in the race goes to Cheyne Boyd but that is not good enough to move him up the championship ladder.

Jay Marmont of course the convincing champion already crowned a round early and Troy Dorron managed to hold on to second overall in the championship by a single point over Ham. The Suzuki rider came home third overall in the series while Cheyne Boyd secured fourth spot.
