| Randy De Puniet pulled away early
on in this race before Daniel Pedrosa stepped up another gear with
two thirds of the race to go when he started to close a little
ground on De Puniet. Daniel Pedrosa, the reigning 125 GP Champion at only 18 years of age, proved that he has adapted well to the 250cc machine by squeezing past De Puniet for the lead at half race distance and then walked away from De Puniet. The youngster broke both ankles at Phillip Island late last year after he had already wrapped up the 125 Championship with a couple of rounds remaining. To be back only six months later, and be leading a World Grand Prix race is quite a feat. I broke both ankles at once quite some time ago, and was in a wheelchair for three months and a walking frame for a further three months, I did do a particularly good job of really smashing them up, but even so, Pedrosa's return to top form in only six months is extremely impressive. Later in the race De Puniet caught back up to Pedrosa and made a move past to take the lead and the duo then swapped the lead a few times in the closing laps. These two the only ones in the race. It went right down to the final turns with the pair swapping places throughout the final lap, Pedrosa does it, the Spanish youngster wins on his debut in the 250cc category. Impressive...
