Report - Kawasaki

A very competitive Fonsi Nieto gave the team Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse their first big satisfaction of the SBK's season here in Qatar on Losail's track. The Spanish rider reached a fantastic 5th place in race 2, he almost managed 4th in front Haga but he didn't accomplish it being just 0.05' behind him over the line. Unfortunately his physical conditions due to the flu didn't permit him to give maximum effort. In the first race Fonsi had crashed after being taken out by his team-mate Regis Laconi, a mistake that can happen but that didn't ruin the beautiful relationship between the two riders of the Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse team. Speaking of Laconi, his weekend has been full of troubles but he reacted very well to the situation and his 11th place stimulated him to improve this classification.

FONSI NIETO: "I should be happy for the race 2 result but I'm angry for the out distance I had on them. It wasn't a tyre's fault neither a bike's problem, it's me, unfortunately my head was like a ball because of my physical conditions and I wasn't able to do better. It's a pity 'cause the bike was really good. In the middle of the race I rode trying to use the less possible the tyres and when Kagayama and Lanzi were behind me I knew I was ready to open the gas and so it was, they remained behind me. In race 1 I felt someone crashing into me then I realized it was Regis. It's a pity when it happens between riders of the same team but it happens".

REGIS LACONI: "I just can be satisfied looking back at how the tests went. I'm really sorry I crashed into Fonsi, It's all my fault, I mistook the distances and I immediately gave my excuses. In round 2 I fought with all my energies but all this aggressiveness finished the front tyre too soon. Fortunately Losail is....the only round disputed this season, everything will be better in Phillip Island even 'cause the team is doing a great job".
