Report - Kawasaki

Things didn't go as well as it did in Qatar here in Australia at Phillip Island for the Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse team. This round has shown us Fonsi Nieto is looking forward to taking some points home whereas Laconi was forced to retire in both races, the first for a tyre problem and the second for a gear problem while he was fighting for the 6th place. An unwanted result looking back after the good job in the tests. But the team is ready for the next round of the championship, the 1st April in Donington Park, and they are looking forward to redeem.

FONSI NIETO: "What a black day! I really didn't expect after the convincing tests, the best I ever made since I ride in SBK. Unfortunately after 10 laps the tyres were already worn and the bike became "unrideable". In both the races the only thing I could do was try to finish the race, taking the most points possible home. We even thought about putting a harder tyre but then we avoided it because the rhythm would have been too slow. Now we try to forget this weekend as soon as possible and we start to work again on the bike 'cause we know that it has the potential to obtain great results".

REGIS LACONI: "In race 1 the tyres were finished after 10 laps and this took me by surprise because the first day I did a long run of 17 laps and the problems I had were as usually. At that point it made no sense continuing I didn't want to risk a crash and ruin the bike. During the break between the two rounds we made the back lighter and things seemed to work. Unfortunately I had problems with the gears and I had to retire. I'm so sorry about that, worst than that it was really impossible for us to go on".
