  • 1517 - Flag is out to end the session so the riders are on their last lap now, can't see the order of the top changing at all on this final lap
  • 1515 - Toseland still on top from Bayliss, Lanzi, Corser, Biaggi, Kagayama, Haga, Xaus, Nieto, Neukirchner, Fabrizio 11th, Martin 12th, Muggas 13th and Brookes 16th
  • 1514 - Xaus and Rolfo just tailed Bayliss for a whole lap and Xaus managed to improve to 8th with a 1m33.24. Two minutes remaining
  • 1513 - Unless Bayliss comes in and jumps on the spare bike he won't get time to go out and try to put down a time on a soft tyre
  • 1511 - Toseland quick again, a 32.753 this time around. Bayliss just had a big sideways moment on to the straight.
  • 1509 - Toseland backed up his 32.045 with a 32.040 to improve, then followed that with a 32.48
  • 1508 - Bayliss is slipping and sliding on the Ducati but looking 100% comfortable at the same time....He has put a lot of laps on the tyres he is on at the moment, no doubt trying to avoid the problems he suffered here last year...
  • 1507 - Toseland quicker again at the second split.... Toseland to the top of the charts, a 32.045 to the Honda mounted Brit. 10 minutes to run...
  • 1506 - Toseland on a quicker one... Tiniest fraction quicker at the first split... Brookesy heading out of pitlane now
  • 1505 - Biaggi heading out of pit lane now, Bayliss just did yet another 32 and upped the top speed mark to 304km/h
  • 1503 - Bayliss still stringing consistent fast laps together. Corser is in pit lane, perhaps getting ready for a tyre with some grip... Toseland has just been in and is heading out of pit lane now. Biaggi has been in the pits for a while. Haga, Lanzi, Rolfo and Neukirchner have put in the most laps, 20 each thus far. Kagayama the least because of that early crash
  • 1502 - Have you tested your knowledge in our quiz yet?  Competition is over but it's still a bit of fun to stir the grey matter, click here to open it in a new window
  • 1500 - Won't be too long before they put soft ones in and have a real crack at the top of the charts... Kagayama crashed only four laps into the session and is still receiving medical treatment but nevertheless he still ranks fifth at this stage of the game... That won't last for long however when the soft rubber gets slotted in
  • 1458 - Just under 20 minutes to run and Bayliss still on top with that 32.641 ahead of Toseland's 32.644 then it is Lanzi, Corser, Kagayama, Haga, Biaggi, Nieto, Fabrizio and Rolfo. Muggas is 11th, Brookes 12th, Martin 14th.
  • 1455 - Just popped outside for a few minutes to have a listen.  Lanzi was tailing Bayliss for a couple of laps. Toseland pulled a huge mono onto the main straight and carried it at half height under power through the next shift halfway down the main straight. Muggas just went out, Brookesy just came in
  • 1447 - Half an hour to run and still Bayliss on top from Toseland. Most of the field is currently in pit lane having adjustments made to their machines
  • 1440 - There we go... Muggas up to ninth with that 1m34.13. The top six riders are all currently in pit lane.  36 minutes remaining in this session
  • 1439 - Muggeridge languishing down in 17th place but likely to improve on this lap, the first and second split encouraging...
  • 1437 - Haga went past Fabrizio a couple of laps again but has not managed to get away from the DFX Honda man. Fabrizio up to ninth quickest now, a 34.27 that time around and obviously enjoying sitting on Haga's tail. Haga has had enough of it however and just pulled off into pitlane on the next lap
  • 1435 - Lanzi moves up to third quickest now after putting in a 32.874. The current order is Bayliss, Toseland, Lanzi, Corser, Kagayama, Haga, Biaggi, Rolfo, Laconi and Steve Martin rounds out the top ten with a 34.64
  • 1433 - Fabrizio just improved his standing to 11th with a 34.70 but looked very untidy doing it. Right in his slipstream down the straight was the Yamaha pairing of Haga and Corser
  • 1432 - Bayliss stringing a lot of good laps together, also fastest through the speed trap at 300km/h. Martin is currently 10th with a 34.64, Brookes 12th (34.74) and Muggeridge 16th (35.52)
  • 1430 - But he doesn't improve, lost a couple of tenths in the final split
  • 1428 - Bayliss going marginally quicker this time at the first split... And again at the second split...
  • 1424 - Everyone is on track and circulating under lightly clouded skies on what is quite a warm track surface here this afternoon. Bayliss the early leader with a 32.641 to lead Toseland's 32.644 then it is Corser, Kagayama, Haga, Biaggi and Rolfo. Kagayama will go backwards however as he was just stretchered away for medical attention after throwing his Suzuki down the road

  • 1407 - Only a few minutes remaining in this session now... Curtain is down to a 35.42, still not as fast as his morning time and 3-tenths away from Foret.  Nannelli is up to third ahead of Parkes, Sofuoglu and Charpentier.  Seaton is 26th and Greedy 27th, the field has 38 riders
  • 1401 - Back up and running now
  • 1358 - The session is scheduled to start again at 1400 with a little over 10 minutes remaining
  • 1357 - He has been put in a neck brace and was just stretchered into the back of the ambulance so he can be taken away for further treatment
  • 1351 - Situation looks nasty, the faller is David Salom, he highsided onto the main straight and is currently lying prone up against the wall halfway along pit lane
  • 1349 - Red flag is out
  • 1347 - Foret goes under the previous lap record, a 35.166 to the Kawasaki man
  • 1346 - Foret on another quick one right now, a great first split...
  • 1339 - Charpentier and Sofuoglu has pushed Curtain back to fourth place now. Things quite warm today at Phillip Island
  • 1337 - Foret putting in a string of good laps, a 35.85 was his next lap
  • 1335 - Foret on top with a 35.81 and backed it up with a 35.94
  • 1329 - Wildcard Chris Seaton has been black flagged for some reason, just as he had improved to 22nd in the standings
  • 1327 - Sofuoglu speeding up now, down to 36.29
  • 1326 - This is a 45 minute session and could prove vitally important with the risk of inclement weather tomorrow
  • 1320 - Curtain to the top of the charts with a 36.11, Canada's Chris Peris way back in 16th place was the fastest down the chute with 272km/h out of his Yamaha
  • 1318 - Straight down to business for the World Supersport men, Fujiwara, Sofuoglu and Checa the first in the 37s. Curtain blitzed them all this morning with a 35.337 and it will be interesting to see what he can crack in this session. Perhaps break Vermeulen's all time Supersport fastest lap record from 2003, he needs to better 35.291
  • 1315 - World Supersport riders heading out of pit lane now for their first qualifying session
  • 1308 - Thanks to combining the Australian Supersport and Superstock sessions into one and reducing the time of all sessions the schedule is now back on track with World Supersport First Qualifying set to get underway at 1315
  • 1305 - Session has now finished and the order is...
  1. Giles 35.72
  2. Allerton 36.59

  17. Odgers 44.33
  18. Eacott 48.20
  19. Slade 48.73
  20. Arkisian 49.91
  21. Bryan 51.92
  22. Orchards 52.31
  • 1302 - A couple of minutes to run in this session and the order is Giles, Allerton, Fergusson, the Stauffer brothers, Charlton, Staring, Maxwell. Giles is a full second quicker than any of them
  • 1300 - 35.72 to Gilesy.  The Suzuki men still on their 2006 machines as they are still awaiting plenty of parts for their new GSX-Rs, they expect exhaust systems from Yoshimura America to arrive late next week to be closely followed by engine and ignition parts from Yoshimura Japan as they become available
  • 1258 - Gilesy down to 35.85 now. Remember the Aussies ride 'Production' Superbikes and thus no fancy forks, brakes and exotic engine parts like the World Superbike riders get to enjoy
  • 1256 - 36.08 now to Giles. Allerton next best on 36.91 followed by Dan Stauffer (37.27), Fergusson (37.3), Charlton (37.6) and Staring the first non Dunlop runner thus far with a 37.94
  • 1255 - 36.2 to Giles on his second lap
  • 1253 - Gilesy a 37.4 on his first flying lap
  • 1252 - Aussie Superbikes on their first flying lap now...  Team Yamaha have some brand new Ohlins shocks to try out here this weekend, a new TT-X design that is meant to offer much improved sensitivity and the new valving system and routing sees them have to run a lot less gas pressure
  • 1249 - Aussie Supers on track shortly for their first qualifier
  • 1241 - Provisional Australian Supersport / Superstock First Qualifying Results
  1. Crowe 38.22
  2. Staring 38.25
  3. Stauffer 38.58
  4. O'Halloran 38.77
  5. Jones 39.83
  6. Holland 39.89

  8. Johnson 40.33
  9. Waters 40.96

  • 1239 - Staring improves again, 38.257 to the Honda man to split the gaggle of Yamahas.  Flag is out now, riders on their last lap...
  • 1238 - Staring on top with a couple of minutes to run in this session, a 38.61 to the young WA rider...  Hold that... Crowe to the top now with a 38.222
  • 1232 - With 7 minutes to run in the Aussie Supersport session it is Crowe on top with a 38.65 followed by Staring on 38.75, O'Halloran 39.26, Jones 39.94. These guys are faster than the back couple in the World Superbike field at this stage and quicker than our Wildcards have managed thus far in the World Supersport practice session
  • 1230 - Looking at the times from first practice... Kev's time on the R6 would have made him the 12th quickest in the Superbike field, quicker than Xaus, Neukirchner, Martin, Nakatomi, Brookes, Muggeridge, Smrz, Polita, Zaiser, Drazdak and Ellison. Obviously at this stage of the season there is a big gulf between the factory backed teams and the privateer level teams, much of which won't get a lot of the good parts for their bikes until later in the season...
  • 1227 - Aussie Supersport / Superstock qualifying session on now, it is a 15 minute session then it is straight from this to an Aussie Superbike qualifying session
  • 1221 - Lanzi was the quickest man through the speed trap in that session, 302km/h.  Aussie Qualifying session up next
  • 1218 - Session finished and the order is
  1. Bayliss 1m32.387
  2. Toseland 1m32.469
  3. Corser 1m32.850
  4. Kagayama 1m33.114
  5. Nieto 1m33.332
  6. Lanzi 1m33.523
  7. Haga 1m33.668
  8. Rolfo 1m33.991
  9. Biaggi 1m34.070
  10. Fabrizio 1m34.121
  11. Laconi 1m34.214
  12. Xaus 1m35.436
  13. Neukirchner 1m35.494
  14. Martin 1m35.644
  15. Nakatomi 1m35.656
  16. Brookes 1m35.884
  17. Muggeridge 1m36.089
  18. Smrz 1m36.253
  19. Polita 1m36.467
  20. Zaiser 1m36.999
  21. Drazdak 1m40.086
  22. Ellison 1m40.467
  • 1214 - Still those three in the 32s. Riders will be on their last lap now and it doesn't look as though anyone is on a quick one...
  • 1209 - Five minutes left in this session now...  Bayliss has stopped on the track somewhere with a technical problem...
  • 1158 - Three men in the 32s, Bayliss, Toseland and Corser. Ducati - Honda - Yamaha
  • 1153 - A 32.387 to Bayliss to put him on top now.  Martin 14th, Muggas 16th, Brookes 17th.  These boys waiting for lots of parts still for their Hondas, Brookesy was struggling with the front end in Qatar and is hoping to iron out his fork problems in practice today
  • 1152 - A 32.538 to Bayliss, just outside Toseland's chart topper.. But Bayliss on another quick one right now....

  • 1115 - World Superbikes about to head out of pitlane...
  • 1112 - Best speed of the session was 272km/h by Nannelli on the Ducati. Curtain's best speed was 266.  Seaton's 250 and Greedy 253
  • 1110 - Flag out to finish the session now and riders on their last lap, looks as though Curtain is by far the quickest man this morning with that 1m35.337, second is Charpentier on 36.080 then it is Foret, Parkes, Sofuoglu, Fujiwara, Tiberio, Veneman, Harms and Nannelli.  Seaton is 26th and Greedy 32nd. Seaton got 16 laps in, Greedy got eight laps in.
  • 1108 - Charpentier second now, a 36.080 to the Frenchman
  • 1107 - Charpentier on a quick lap now... Currently fifth quickest but could improve this time around...
  • 1103 - Foret has upped his pace, up to second quickest with a 36.327
  • 1056 - Parkes back up to 2nd quickest, 36.54. But Curtain just smashed them all with a 35.337, only just outside Vermeulen's record from 2003, a 1m35.291
  • 1055 - Leblanc just crashed but is up and fine
  • 1053 - 16 minutes remaining in this session and they are aiming for a short turnaround in order to get the Superbikes on track from 1115, 45 minutes later than scheduled
  • 1048 - The boys are picking up the pace, a 36.32 to Curtain now and Charpentier getting up to speed... A 36.61 to the Frenchman
  • 1042 - Curtain is the first in the 36s, a 36.87 to the Yamaha man, Parkes second on 37.21
  • 1040 - Bikes back on track ad up to speed now, Parkes on top of the charts with a 37.58 ahead of teammate Curtain. Who will be the first to crack a 36 this morning?  We are about 45 minutes behind schedule at the minute which could pose some problems for the Aussie qualifying sessions that were meant to kick off around 1140, at this stage I can't imagine them being on track until closer to 1230
  • 1031 - A five minute announcement has just been made so we can expect the bikes to back on track soon, in, oh, about five minutes perhaps
  • 1029 - We could be prematurely be blaming Judd for that mess, we got the word that #74 had dropped the oil but some other talk is that it may have been a Ducati spilling its juices
  • 1024 - An oil down around Lukey Heights still being cleaned up, believe the mess could be leaked fluids from Judd Greedy
  • 1017 - Still no movement at the station here as yet. Must be a spill being cleaned up
  • 1005 - Still no machines back on track as yet  Really nice morning here at Phillip Island, things are expected to take a turn for the worse tomorrow at some stage however, and also possibly Sunday
  • 0955 - Still under the red flag here, more news at it comes to hand
  • 0949 - Fabien Foret had gone down so presume the red flag is for him, so either his bike can be cleared from a dangerous position or he needs medical attention
  • 0948 - Red flag is out, 34 minutes remaining in the session
  • 0942 - The first man down this morning is Barry Veneman but it was a soft crash and he is fine
  • 0940 - Five minutes into World Supersport First Practice and it is Curtain the first man to go under the 40 second barrier with a 37.8 but it won't be long before these boys are well under that mark!
  • 0932 - Proceedings about to get underway here at a sunny and fine Phillip Island. Bikes are heading out on track right now for World Supersport First Practice. That runs for 45 minutes then we have the World Superbikes on track for an hour
