Supersport Race

Andrew Pitt nosed his way into the lead at turn one ahead of Broc Parkes, Craig Jones, Josh Brookes, Mark Aitchison and Jonny Rea. Broc Parkes was soon past Pitt for the lead and immediately put the hammer down to try and break away from the melee unfolding behind him. Josh Brookes went down on lap two to put a severe dent in to what had been a promising weekend for the Stiggy Motorsports man. A similar fate befell Russell Holland who crashed out in a big way just after working his way inside the top ten. Lascorz also had a tumble but got back up and running again to try and salvage some points, Tode not quite as lucky in his tumble.

Parkes continued to lead until Pitt made his move on lap eight. Parkes tried to come back at him but lost the front and slid softly into the gravel. Broc was back up and running quite quickly but not before losing 11 places in the process.

While Mark Aitchison was doing Triumph proud in fourth place Garry McCoy limped into pit lane at the halfway point of the race as his 675 gave up the ghost.

Up front it was all Andrew Pitt. Craig Jones tried to keep him in distant sight The gap at the halfway mark three seconds and Jones had five seconds on third placed Jonny Rea.

As the laps wound down Pitt continued to put in lap after lap out front unfettered by any challengers. Craig Jones could only glimpse the tail of the Ten Kate Honda at the end of the straight each time he came onto the straight.

Pitt the clear winner over Jones. Rea rounded out the podium. Foret fourth, Harms fifth and Aitchison a fighting sixth. Broc Parkes worked his way back up to tenth place and Brookes 14th.

25 points for the win extends Pitt’s lead in the series to 16 points over Foret who moves past Parkes for second place in the standings.
