Australian Superbike 2008 - Round Two - Mallala (SA) - Kawasaki Report

KRT’S SCOTT CHARLTON ADVANCES A PLACE IN AUSTRALIAN SUPERSPORT CHAMPIONSHIPS

KRT rider, Scott Charlton is making steady progress in his 2008 Australian Supersport Championships campaign. Scott has advanced a position to claim 6th place overall after the Kawasaki sponsored 2nd round of the Australian Championships at Mallala Raceway, SA on 19-20 April 2008.

Scott went into round 2 confidently after the series opener at Eastern Creek Raceway, (also sponsored by Kawasaki) left him in 7th place overall in the Series. Scott, new to KRT in 2008, has ridden his Kawasaki ZX-6R consistently to finish in 8th place and 7th place respectively in the 2 races making up the 2nd round. Scott’s strong efforts advance him a position in the series to 6th place.

Both Scott Charlton’s and Shannon Johnson’s Australian Superbike Championships overall standings remain unchanged after round 2 with both riders inside the top 10. Scott Charlton maintains his 10th place position overall in the Series while Shannon Johnson crossed the line in 9th place in both races to sit in 9th place overall in the standings.

KRT rider Scott Charlton is optimistic about his chances in the 2008 series saying, “Things didn’t go as well as we hoped this weekend but I managed to advance a position in the Supersport series and that’s promising, especially seeing as the season has only just begun. I’m confident we can continue to improve and advance up the leader board.”

KRT Manager Dave Cullen says, “We didn’t improve on our Superbike standings but we didn’t drop any places either. We’ve got some ground to make up and we’re all working very hard and are very optimistic. We learnt a lot at Mallala about the new Ninja ZX-10R and we’ll take that with us into round 3.”

“Scott made up a place in the Supersport standings which is great. He’s getting faster and faster all the time. We’ve got a long break now til the next round and we’ll use that time to test and develop both the Ninja ZX-6R and new Ninja ZX-10R and come out firing at Winton. We can’t wait.”

KRT will be out in force at the 3rd round of the Australian Superbike Championships at Winton, Victoria, 30 May – 1 June.
