2002 Ducati SuperSport Range
|
The 2002 SuperSport range has been enhanced with the addition of the new 900 Sport model.
Four models, all available in half fairing and full fairing versions, with electronic fuel injection.
The Desmo twin-cylinder two-valve featured on the Supersport models remains unchanged from 2001. Thus power levels and max torque remain the same - (80 HP at 7,500 rpm and 8 kgm at 6,500 rpm for the 900SS and the 900 Sport and 64 HP at 8,250 rpm and 6.1 kgm at 6,000 rpm for the 750cc models). The frame of the Supersport models features high torsion stiffness, common to all the versions. On the 900SS, the fully adjustable Showa fork allows you to fine tune the suspension to your preferences. A new feature on this model is the Ohlins rear shock. It is fully adjustable not only in pre-load, compression and rebound but also in ride height. The other versions of the Supersport family feature 43mm upside down forks (Showa for the 750SS). Furthermore, the 750SS is equipped with a rear shock with a position-sensitive-damping-system, which allows a more ready response of the vehicle to small irregularities of the ground. All the models of the Supersport family are equipped with a Brembo Serie Oro braking system, featuring 4-piston fixed calipers with differentiated diameter (30 - 34 mm). For the 750 Sport entry model, a front braking system based on a 320mm single-disc has been adopted. This, together with a 245mm rear single-disc (common to the entire range), ensures a braking power suited to the performance of the 750 Sport. As for the other versions, the front brake is a 320mm double disc. This year also, all the Supersport family models are available in the full fairing and half fairing versions. The new feature, on the other hand, is the new metallic gray color with red wheel rims, available for the 900SS and the 750SS models, which fits alongside the 'classic' red and yellow, while the two Sport versions are available in matte black.
