2002 Triumph Bonneville
T100 - Special Edition
|
Triumph motorcycles
recently celebrated their 100th birthday and have released a special
edition "Bonneville T100" to mark the occasion. Power is provided by the standard air-cooled 790cc Bonneville parallel twin engine with most of the changes limited to cosmetic details. These improvements include chrome engine covers and a special centenary badge on the petrol tank to distinguish the model as a limited edition. A tachometer is also added and along with the speedo' scores a new brushed aluminium housing. The silver mudguards combine well with the Lucifer Orange and silver paint scheme. Hand painted gold coach lines add to the classic look along with twin "pea-shooter" mufflers. Triumph claim the double overhead camshaft Bonneville engine produces a modest 61hp at 7,400rpm. More impressive is the fact that the engine produces 90% of it's maximum torque figure (60Nm) all the way from 2,750rpm right through to redline. A steel box-section swingarm suspends from a tubular steel double cradle frame while a low 775 seat height will prove very friendly to those caught a little short in the leg department. Disc brakes front and rear pull the bike up better than any of the models the Bonneville takes styling cues from and when combined with modern rubber also provides handling infinitely better than the bikes of yesteryear. For $13,990 the Bonneville T100 gives you that classic British look and feel, but without the oil leaks and shoddy handling common to the original models. Add that to the fact that Triumph provide a 2 year, unlimited kilometre warranty and the new Bonneville looks an even better prospect. Specifications
