The new throttle bodiesAnother major change is in the fuel injection system. The new CBR has a complete secondary set of 12-hole injectors positioned in the roof of the airbox, these operate under full throttle conditions from around 6,000rpm. This secondary set of injectors actually open a fraction of a second before the main injectors during each intake stroke which feeds the larger 40mm throttle bodies with an already finely atomised fuel-air mix which is then enriched by the conventional injectors.

Honda claim the new frame is based on the RC211V. The Honda used a new die-cast frame, seemingly similar to that found on the 2003 Yamaha R6. Honda have also used this process in the new rear sub-frame which further aided the routing of the new underseat exhaust system.

The fuel tank is completely new. Under the forward part of the tank is some of the airbox while the rear half of the tank is used for fuel. However only the top third of the steel tank is visible over the upper frame rails. Most of the fuel resides in the more downward sections of the tank which extend right down to crankcase, positioning the fuel as close to the machines turning axis centrepoint as possible.
