Overview

Mount a fuel-injected Ninja ZX-9R-based engine in a lightweight chassis, equip it with Ninja running gear, and combine that with some hard edged semi-naked look and you get the new Kawasaki Z 1000.

In addition to the EFI system the ZX-9R based engine scores a capacity boost from 899cc out to 953cc.  Other changes include a new cylinder head complete with fins for the air-cooled look.

A lightweight diamond frame should ensure good handling.  Especially when combined with the upside-down forks and ZX-9R swingarm.

4-piston calipers grip a pair of 300mm discs up front and should ensure good braking performance.

A quartet of polished stainless steel mufflers definitely add to the Z 1000s retro styling.
