In some markets Suzuki will release a new DR-Z400SM in 2005.

Based on the DR-Z400S sold overseas this machine does not have as much power as our Australian specification DR-Z400E. 

Our model produces more power for a number of reasons but one of the chief benefits that the Australian model is endowed with is the excellent 39mm FCR Keihin carburettor.  The DR-Z400S seen in most overseas markets employs a 36mm Mikuni BSR to deliver the go juice and is significantly less lively and less instantly receptive to the minor tuning tricks that can have the Australian specification model barking quite hard at minimal expense.
