Preliminary auctions are kicking off to help the Jamie Brockman Foundation. The foundation has been set up to provide funds to help the Brockman family with the substantial medical bills mounting in America where Jamie is still in intensive care following an accident at the penultimate round of the US Motocross Championships last month. A t-shirt campaign is being organised, a formal dinner in Perth for 500 people incorporating a major auction for plenty of memorabilia and a motorcycle raffle is also being finalised. One of the first items up for grabs is going on Ebay tomorrow. Former Australian and three-times American Superbike champion Mat Mladin has supported the cause by donating a set of his race winning leathers and placing them on eBay with all proceeds going to the Jamie Brockman Foundation. “I have just found out about Jamie Brockman and the injuries that have left him as a quadriplegic,” said Mladin. “No-one likes to hear about these sorts of things happening and I felt that it would be an appropriate cause to make a donation to.” The leathers which Mladin will be placing on eBay are those that he wore when he won AMA Superbike races at Laguna Seca, Mid-Ohio double-header and Virginia. Mladin is not the only
road racer pitching in for the cause. A signed helmet from three-time Australian Superbike Champion Shawn Giles will be auctioned at the formal dinner in October, as will a swag of other gear from
various road racing stars. The item will be on eBay under: Mat Mladin 2003 Agv Sport Leathers and will be placed under the SPORTS category. To learn more about Jamie or to offer your support go to http://www.jamiethejet.com . |
