BMW S 1000 RR -- By Trevor Hedge Rob Dunston from Motohansa has announced the formation of a new Australian Road Racing Team to be known as the Motohansa Laser Exhaust Race Team. Jeremy Crowe will ride a BMW S 1000 RR for the new team that hopes to debut during the Australian Superstock 1000 events at the opening round of the World Superbike Championship at Phillip Island. That event also incorporates the Australian Superbike series opener but at this stage the team expects to race in the Superstock 1000 category at selected Australian Superbike rounds while also contesting the Australian Formula Xtreme Championship Series which kicks off in late March at Wakefield Park Raceway in NSW. Dunston added, “Jeremy is an exceptional rider that we believe has the skills necessary to be a Championship winner on our bike. He has previous experience riding for factory teams in 2008 in the ASC 600 Supersport class, setting lap records ahead of many more other well known Australian Champions.” Motohansa has managed to put together a formidable list of sponsors for the 2010 including Laser Exhausts Australia, Bendix Brakes, Silkolene Oils, Texa Diagnostic Equipment, GS-911, Pard Tools, Wunderlich BMW Accessories, Pro Tuner. Rob Dunston of Motohansa believes the combination of the new and exciting BMW S 1000 RR with Jeremy Crowe on board will be a formidable combination. The BMW S 1000 RR has many class leading standard features such as low weight, dynamic tractional control and race ABS, quick shift and slipper clutch along with a competitive 190 horsepower four-cylinder engine. The full Motohansa team will consist of Jeremy Crowe as rider with technical duties taken up by Frank Pons of Biketek and Mat Graham. Frank will be the team technician for suspension and chassis. Frank has many years experience working with factory race teams and has been responsible for suspension set up on championship winning bikes for Jason O’Halloran (2007 Australian Supersport Champion) and Bryan Staring (2009 Australian Supersport Champion). Mat Graham will be the team mechanic. Mat has just returned from Europe where he was team mechanic for Regis Laconi in the World Superbike Championship. He was also team mechanic in the World Superbikes for Russell Holand and has spent time in Australia working for factory Supersport teams. |
