-- York Motorcycle Festival nominated for Award Organisers of the York Motorcycle Festival were thrilled to receive the acknowledgement that the Festival was nominated for the Premier’s Australia Day Active Citizenship Award for a Community Group or Event. This recognition has come following the success of the inaugural event in 2012, which was held in support of the Wheels for Hope charity foundation. More than 4000 people came out to enjoy the event in April last year. The Festival itself was held in conjunction with a charity motorbike ride held by Helmets for Hope, which saw around 350 bikes take part in the ride from Midland to York. Themotorcycle festival also served to raise funds for the foundation, with more than $12,000 raised on the day. The success of the 2012 York Motorcycle Festival has prompted organisers to develop the event into an annual Festival, with the next one scheduled for Sunday 21 April 2013. The York Motorcycle Festival will take place along Avon Terrace and will incorporate trade displays and local exhibits, with family friendly entertainment and attractions. Businesses will be open for the day providing food and drink to visitors, and there will be plenty of free parking. A Show & Shine competition, plus custom bike displays will also be held. The 2013 Festival will also be a charity event, this time supporting Kalparrin, an organisation that supports families with children with special needs in Western Australia.
