| Thanks for ringing us today
Aaron, we really appreciate it.
Q. So Aaron are you riding for Castrol
Honda next year?
A. Nothing is confirmed as yet, I may be staying with Castrol Honda but
I also have a few offers on the table for next year if that does not
work out.
Q. Can you tell us who those offers are
from?
A. A couple of twin-cylinder teams and a 4-cylinder team if that narrows
it down for you a bit (laughs).
Q. There has been a lot of talk about
you maybe doing some racing in the British Touring Car Championship, do
you think anything will come of that?
A. For sure, a team wants be to do about 4 races for them next year and
as long as they don't clash with the bike racing I would love to have a
go.
Q. You must be glad that all the
medical dramas are behind you now and you are back up to speed.
The messages of support that we alone forwarded on from our readers
numbered in their hundreds if not thousands you must have been really
glad to know all that support was behind you.
A. Yeah for sure, I didn't know it was in front of me but it is
good to have it behind me. The fan response was incredible,
I got handed a helmet box full of messages of support that had been
forwarded to me and it took me about two weeks to get through
them. My come-back race was at Donington and I finished 9th but
the crowd support was incredible and made me feel as though I had won.
Q. So you will definitely be racing
next year?
A. For sure, I feel that I owe myself one more year. I had my best
run in 1998 and then spent 1999 battling a problem that I did not know I
had and then this year with the brain surgery and everything followed by
the recovery and getting back up to speed. One more year, I owe it
to myself to give it a go now I am fully fit for the first time in a
couple of years.
Q. Have you heard about the rumours
that Neil Hodgson is meant to have signed with Castrol Honda?
A. I have heard something on that but I can't really believe that the
manager, Neil, who has seen him in World SuperBike before when he did
nothing would want to have him in the team. As far as I know - it
is between myself and Okada for the seat.
Q. What do you think of the talk that
Colin Edwards is negotiating with Ducati?
A. I am not surprised, he will be talking to them in the aim of trying
to drive some more money out of Honda for next year. I can't see
him going anywhere. Plenty of riders are talking with Ducati at
the moment.
Thanks a lot for talking with us Aaron,
it was great to talk to you and we wish you all the best for the rest of
this year, and of course, next year. |
