Anthony Gobert injury update - June 20. 2001
| Anthony Gobert has
consulted famous surgeon, Dr. Ting, about the injury he sustained during
last weekend's 7th round of the American SuperBike Championship.
It has been decided that Anthony will not be having any surgery to correct his injuries and the course of action decided for treatment has been to let the bone in his wrist heal naturally. Anthony has also experienced some small problems with his hand since that horrific crash in Japan last year when Anthony was riding the Bimota, so at a later stage some efforts will be made to correct that also. At the moment it looks as though the muscle injury from his shoulder dislocation will cause Anthony the most problems in the short term and it is 50/50 as to whether Anthony will be ready to ride at Laguna on July 8. But Anthony is confident that he will be able to put up with the shoulder discomfort and will make every effort possible to ensure he can race at Laguna. Anthony had been hoping for a better prognosis that may involve a surgical 'quick fix' but now it is simply up to his body and it's own internal response to the injury that will decide how quick Anthony is ready to ride. Let's hope it is quick enough to enable him to once again upset the World SuperBike regulars at Laguna next month. |
