Damian Cudlin back on track

Damian had his first ride back on a production Superbike at Eastern Creek yesterday. He attended a Circuit Breakers Ride Day, and within 4 laps was down to 37's. By the last session he was comfortably sitting on flat 36's, and that was with old tyres, so he certainly hasn't lost any of his riding ability.

As you know, Damian broke and dislocated his back in July and for a while it looked as though his racing career may have been over. But, with his usual determination Damian defied the odds and worked on getting better. He was out of the hospital within 7 weeks without any back surgery at all, and has been lucky enough not to have sustained any permanent neural damage.

How did his back go after the ride? Fantastic!

No back pain or even discomfort at all. He did get a bit of arm pump but he hasn't been on a bike since the beginning of July. He's really happy to be back on the bike again, and is looking forward to racing next season.

No, he hasn't been signed by anyone for 2002, although he is having discussions with some teams at the moment.

In the meantime, Damian's younger brother Alex is recuperating after a second operation on his left arm, which he broke at Phillip Island at the Stars of Tomorrow. All is looking well there too, and he'll be back in the fray in 2002.
