This weekend heralds the return of World Championship motorcycle racing to one of the world’s most prestigious Grand Prix circuit’s.

The Silverstone Grand Prix circuit is the venue for the 2nd round of the 2002 Endurance World Championship. It is the first time in nearly twenty years that a World Championship motorcycle race has taken place at the home of British motorsport, but it’s also significantly the first time the new 200 mile format will be unveiled in Britain.

Warwick Nowland, 2000 Endurance FIM World Champion, and another Australian rider currently based out of England, is determined to put the record straight after the technical problems that his team suffered at Round One of the Championship in Imola.

After securing pole position, a gear lever problem saw Nowland and his team mate Giovanni Bussei drop back to 33rd position.  British magazine, MCN, praised Warwick's ride, "Warwick Nowland put in the ride of the weekend and fought back from 33rd position to a well deserved 6th before eventually finishing 4th."

Commenting on this weekend’s 200 Mile race at Silverstone Warwick had this to say, “I feel at home at Silverstone and there’s a special link with Britain, especially after winning my 2000 World Title with British Team Phase One.

"It’s also great to see the British SuperBikes also on this weekend’s event schedule, I’ve got some fond memories of racing in BSB and had some good scraps with Steve Plater and Shayne Byrne. I always remember the British fans being enthusiastic and hopefully we can bring them some exciting racing.

"I’m really looking forward to this new GP circuit especially before my old rival Troy Bayliss gets here with the World SuperBike. Maybe we can swap notes!”
