Linfox Property Group has announced today that they have lodged a planning application with the Bass Coast Shire Council for the expansion of the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. The expansion plans include a Greg Norman designed 18 hole golf course and 506 villas situated in three villages adjacent to the circuit along with a 163 room hotel, conference centre and accommodation lodges. Recently the Linfox group spent $2 million on various track and safety upgrades and the new expansion plans are to truly raise Phillip Island up another level. The circuit itself is amazing from a rider's perspective and also for spectators but the distance from Melbourne and struggle for quality accommodation come GP time can be painful for some of the international teams and people working at the circuit. The planned upgrades should really help raise the GP to a new level of professionalism and allow organisers to really pitch to the international tourist market which should make the Australian GP bigger and better than it has ever been before. -- Multimedia -- Click here for a rider's eye view of the Phillip Island circuit taken from a standard CBR600RR Honda shod with Pilot Sport Michelins.
