Historics
with Murray Barnard

Well, thanks to MCNEWS.COM.AU for the opportunity to share my classic motorcycling tales with you.

Hi I'm Murray Barnard or better known as Muzz. I have been riding a multitude of machines for over 30 years,   all over Australia, road raced production and racebikes in the 70s and classic racing machines in later years. I have written for Classic Motorcycling, Bike Australia and some other odd mags so I have amassed some knowledge of the old beasts over time.

My first contribution is on Finland's first World motorcycle champion - Jarno Saarinen. Given more time Jarno could have gone on to be the world's greatest road racer. We'll never know as he died tragically at the height of his success.  Whatever is said about him, he certainly was spectacular, with steeply angled clip-ons and a wild riding style derived from his ice-racing days.
