H.O.G. Rally to hit Canberra
The Harley Owners Group (H.O.G) is set to descend on Canberra from Friday 19th – Sunday 21st October, riding en masse into the nation’s capital to celebrate the iconic motorcycle brand at the 2012 Australian National H.O.G Rally.
Running since 1990, the Australian National H.O.G Rally has been held at various locations across Australia. Taking the Thunder to the Hill to Thoroughbred Park, Lyneham in 2012, those in attendance can expect to take in the sights, scenery and culture that Canberra and the surrounding areas have to offer such as Parliament House, Old Parliament House, the National Gallery, National War Memorial and the Black Mountain.
The event, which is open to all H.O.G members, incorporates a number of elements in which the public can attend, including the Sunday Thunder Run that is set to rumble through the streets of Canberra on Sunday 21st October. Organisers of the event are encouraging locals to join the thousands of riders and their Harley-Davidson motorcycles to inspect the vast array of machines that will be on display.
Harley Owners Group Executive, Kim Williams explained that excitement around the event is building amongst both Harley-Davidson owners and the general public alike, commenting; “The annual National H.O.G Rally is one of the key events on the motorcycling calendar. This year’s event has a phenomenal line up of activities and events that will highlight the unique culture and lifestyle of Harley-Davidson for both H.O.G members and any interested members of the Canberra public.”
The 22nd Australian National H.O.G Rally includes a fully-packed schedule of activities and features a special performance from one of Australia’s most influential songwriters, Richard Clapton. Clapton will be performing his only Canberra show for the 2012 H.O.G Rally as part of his national tour.
With anticipation building, other highlights for H.O.G members include guided rides with the local Canberra chapter of the group, a full display of the 2013 model year bikes, the Dyno Drag Simulator and an arm wrestling competition, all running throughout the 2012 Australian National H.O.G Rally.
The HD-1 Custom Shop will also be present at the event, offering riders the opportunity to envisage their dream Harley with inspiration from more than 300 unpackaged products and a range of innovative, interactive features.
