McGrath joining Super X Field this weekend in Townsville
Woodstock Honda Thor Racing is preparing for the arrival of legendary supercross racer, Jeremy McGrath who is set to join the factory Honda team in round six of the Australasian Super X Championship at Dairy Farmers Stadium (Townsville, QLD), this Saturday night.
McGrath, who is widely acknowledged as the King of Supercross with seven AMA Supercross Championships to his credit, retired in 2003 as the most successful and dominant racer the world has ever seen.
Hailing from Southern California, 37-year-old McGrath will race the remaining two rounds of the all-new Super X series in Townsville and Brisbane, piloting a Honda CRF450R with the race number “J”, providing a rare opportunity for Australian race fans.
Excited by the prospect of working with a living legend, the Woodstock Honda crew will provide McGrath and his U.S. technician with two ’09-model Honda CRF450R race bikes, plus support, tools and a fully equipped base to work from.
McGrath’s race technician will prepare both motorcycles to suit the 12-time champion’s specific racing needs, with full support from the Woodstock Honda Thor Racing crew.
In readiness for McGrath’s arrival in Australia, the Woodstock Honda team will land in Townsville one day earlier than usual to ensure that everything is in order and to allow sufficient preparation time for the racing megastar.
Alongside Woodstock Honda rider Daniel McCoy and fellow guest rider Australian Supercross Champion Dan Reardon, Jeremy McGrath is certain to turn up the heat in Townsville as he takes the challenge to World Champion, Chad Reed.
