The Tiger Kart Club’s Cockburn International Raceway will again play host to the exciting new motorcycle action that Supermoto provides when riders take to the track on Saturday, November 1.

Supermoto is where riders take machines first designed for motocross or enduro competition and fit road tyres to them for some sideways lean angles around the tight confines of the 1.07 kilometre tarmac circuit.

The track is situated on Gemma Road in Henderson and has full canteen and bar facilities on hand for spectators to enjoy the great view of the action.

Supermoto is one of the world’s fastest growing sports with a World Championship now visiting over ten countries and Australia is also picking up this new discipline of motorcycle racing.

The inaugural Australian Supermoto Championship kicked off this year and will conclude with the final round in Tasmania next month. A high profile American series is also underway with famous names like Jeremy McGrath trying their hand at riding dirtbikes on the tar. Port Macquarie’s (NSW) Mark Avard has dominated Australian Supermoto this year, and has also led the American competition ahead of names like McGrath and Metzger.

Saturday, November 1st is another introduction day at Cockburn and all spectators and riders are invited to come along and see what Supermoto has to offer.

This will be the fourth of these introduction days to be held at Cockburn with a few Warnbro locals already proving popular with the 800 strong crowd at a recent event. These included top WA motocross riders Robin Morrison and recent state motocross champion Ben Hothersall. This talented pair amazed onlookers with their deliriously sideways antics. Hothersall, on a CRF450R Honda, was painting big black lines out of the corners from his smoking tyres while Morrison appeared on a two-stroke YZ250 Yamaha which looked quite a handful.

25-times WA Motocross Champion Matt Battista also tried his hand at Supermoto during the last event and was blown away by how much fun Supermoto can be.

If you can, make the time make it down to Cockburn from 1pm on Saturday, November 1st for an entertaining afternoon for all the family.

Anybody wanting to know more about this event or Supermoto in general are invited to ring Trevor on 0421 326 772.
