The British GP took place last weekend at Lydd International Raceway near Ashford in Kent. After a bright and sunny start to the day, the morning warm-up saw Boris Chambon (FRA-KTM) post the fastest time ahead of Gerald Delepine (BEL-Vertemati) and pole-man Eddy Seel (BEL-Husqvarna) with front row sitter, Ivan Lazzarini (ITA-Rigo Husaberg) registering the fourth fastest time. With the top eight riders all registering times within the same second this afternoon’s races promise some close competition and exciting action.

Gerald Delepine (BEL-Vertemati) registered a start to finish victory here in Race 1 at the British GP. Grabbing the hole-shot, from the third slot on the grid, Delepine managed to get around the first corner and onto the dirt section before the rest of the front row. Fighting off a strong, race long challenges from pole-sitter Eddy Seel (BEL-Husqvarna), Delepine crossed the line to register his first race win of the year. Eddy Seel followed him home in second place ahead of Ivan Lazzarini (ITA-Rigo Husaberg) in third, Max Manzo (ITA-Vertemati) in fourth and Jurgen Kunzel (GER-KTM) in fifth.

Race 2 saw pole –man Gerald Delepine grab the hole-shot to lead the field around the circuit for most of the twelve-lap race. However, Eddy Seel took the initiative, with a brave move into the first turn on the tenth lap, to grab the lead. Quickly establishing an advantage, Eddy Seel extended this lead over the final couple of laps and registered an impressive victory. Gerald Delepine followed the race-winner home in second, some four seconds behind. Ivan Lazzarini came home in third ahead of Bernd Hiemer (GER-Zupin Husqvarna) in fourth and Massimo Beltrami (ITA-Husqvarna) in fifth.

SuperPole saw Eddy Seel show his mastery of the Lydd circuit, grabbing pole position for the SuperFinal with a 1:04:975 lap. Gerald Delepine posted a quick time of 1:05:178 to secure second spot on the grid ahead of Ivan Lazzarini 1:05:503 and fourth placed rider Bernd Hiemer, 1:05:517.

Eddy Seel grabbed the hole-shot into the first turn and dominated the rest of the 24 lap SuperFinal here at the British GP today in front of close to 3000 fans. Despite a brave, race long pursuit by Ivan Lazzarini, Seel increased his advantage lap by lap until, by the middle of the race he had built an invulnerable lead. Even though Lazzarini was able to close the gap through the later stages of the race the race leaders position was never in question and he crossed the line, on the back wheel, to take the win over three seconds ahead. Lazzarini capped a fine weekend’s performance, with his third podium of the day, in second. Fabrice Guyot (FRA – Husqvarna) maintained his recent run of good form with a fighting third, ahead of the fourth placed finisher Boris Chambon and Davide Gozzini (ITA-Husqvarna 2R) in fifth.

The combination of the days results means that Boris Chambon (FRA-KTM) with 326 points maintains his lead in the FIM S1 Supermoto World Championship ahead of Jurgen Kunzel (GER-KTM) 320 points, Eddy Seel (BEL-Husqvarna) 313 points, Ivan Lazzarini (ITA-Rigo Husaberg) 239 points and Gerald Delepine (BEL-Vertemati) 232 points.

Eddy Seel: “I am very happy. I want to continue this good form over to the final races of the season. I try my best in every race but sometimes I have made mistakes. With only three races left everything could change in the World Championship. I am very happy as this is my fifth victory of the year and it is very good for my championship challenge.”

Ivan Lazzarini: “Eddy was very fast today. I tried hard to catch him but he was a little bit too fast! Today I am very happy. I managed to get three podiums and that means I am closer to the fourth position in the championship.

Fabrice Guyot: “Yes, I am very happy with my weekend. I had a bit of difficulty in the qualifying but I did much better in the races. I got a good start in the SuperFinal but I began to feel tired near the end. To get third is a good result especially after my podium at the French GP.”
