The 2003 Western Australian Road Racing Championships conclude this weekend with all classes set to be decided at this final round. Yamaha’s Stuart Adams is quietly confident he has what it takes to win this year’s premier Championship – the WA Superbike Title. Adams has been a consistent Kings of Wanneroo winner over the last few years but hasn’t managed to clinch the big Championship win since 1991 and 1993. With the early retirement of Sam Reynolds this season and Honda’s Scott Tulk not participating at all rounds Adams has had a consistent winning edge and holds a 55 point lead over his nearest rival – Russell Nash, with Craig Humphrey holding down 3rd position overall. WA Superbike Championship Points standing:Stuart Adams 280 pts Russell Nash 225 Craig Humphrey 164 Steve Alderson 136 Scott Tulk 102
The 600cc Rural Building Company Supersport Championship will again come down to the wire, with only three points separating the two front runners. Yamaha’s Strett Cull
has so far taken 2 of the 4 round wins with rival Russell Nash taking the other two. Honda’s Alan Watts now holds a comfortable 3rd place in the Championship run with nearest rivals Michael Quante
and Chris Galbraith both out of the final due to injuries. Unfortunately Chris Galbraith was the innocent party in a nasty race fall whilst competing in the Supersport support class at last weekends
Phillip Island GP. Galbraith suffered ankle injuries which will see him laid up for 6 weeks. Quante received injuries whilst holidaying in Malaysia.
