| Both Chili and Toseland had dramas at the start of this race with the young Briton pulling out with problems on lap 1 while Xaus led the way from Hodgson,
Laconi, Walker, Corser and Martin rounding out the top six. Lavilla then started to make some moves and pushed Corser back to seventh place while James Haydon rejoined the track after leaving the circuit. Xaus and Hodgson then pulled away from the field with Hodgson nearly losing the rear a couple of times before Xaus ran in a little too hot and out-braked himself which allowed Hodgson to sneak through easily as Xaus lost around a second from that mistake. Chris Walker dumped it around this stage of the race also which meant both GSE bikes were out of the race.Xaus trailed Hodgson for a few laps before Xaus got Hodgson back at the point where the Spaniard had made the mistake a few laps earlier and at the next turn the two riders came together and bashed fairings pretty hard but Xaus had to give way after Hodgson out-braked himself and nearly took both of them out. Laconi was six seconds down in third while Lavilla has pushed up to fourth place some 26 seconds behind the leaders with Steve Martin in fifth and Chili closing in after starting from the rear and making a titanic battle through the field. As the two File Ducati men started the last lap they encountered a gaggle of backmarkers as they continued their fight for the win but they negotiated them safely for the most part before Hodgson was baulked in to a downhill left-hander which he recovered from only to run off the circuit a corner later handing Xaus the win. Chili completed a brilliant ride through the field to takes fifth place from Steve Martin in the closing laps.
