Stephane Chambon was the early leader from Karl Muggeridge and Jurgen Vd Goorbergh. Championship favourite Chris Vermeulen looked to be struggling in 5th while trying to hold off Fabien Foret who looked the quicker of the two. Over the next few laps Chambon cleared out a healthy 2.5-second lead, while Goorbergh managed to overhaul Muggeridge for 2nd position while Charpentier also started to pressure Muggeridge. Foret eventually got the better of Vermeulen for 5th place which left Vermeulen to then fight off challenges from Katsuaki Fujiwara. No such dramas for Stephane Chambon though as the diminutive Frenchman was doing it easy out in front and by lap 14 of 23 had a lead of over 6 seconds from Jurgen Vd Goorbergh. Charpentier got the better of Muggeridge for 3rd position with 8 laps to run. A couple of laps later Vd Goorbergh started to receive some unwanted threats to his 2nd position from Charpentier. Race leader Chambon was a country mile ahead, 7.5 seconds, out in front. A lap later Fabien Foret relegated Muggeridge to 5th position but Muggas came back at him the next time around. A lap later the red flag came out as Cruciani was fished out of the air bags but was thankfully looking pretty healthy when they pulled him out. Chambon took a clear and easy win from Van Der Goorbergh in what was perhaps not the most exciting World Supersport race.
