Daryl Hurley is yet another incredibly fast New Zealander with a vast amount of experience overseas and a hefty load of credentials under his belt. Hurley will compete in Australia during 2005 after spending previous seasons competing at the highest levels of AMA Motocross. Hurley is a key member of Suzuki's 2005 challenge and will also help fellow New Zealander Luke Burkhart develop throughout the year. Daryl Hurley –
Interview Daryl: Luke's been around for along time….he always raced with Ben Townley when they were kids and stuff and has even beaten Ben in the senior class in New Zealand nationals and then he got injured….and yeah he’s had a few injuries. But he’s over them now and has decided to come to Australia to race. In the last couple of months he’s been doing the business at home…..he’s been the fastest guy and now it’s time for him to make the step up. Brett: How's your season shaping up? Are you ready for next weekend? Daryl: Yes I am…the team's coming together really well. Luke is riding for Suzuki as well this year, so we will live and train out of Newcastle, close to team manager Jay Foreman. That way we can always be trying things with the bikes and get the best possible setup for each rider. We will fly back and forth to NZ in between races. Brett: There’s plenty of good practice tracks around Newcastle. Daryl: Yeah…we’re kind of lucky that way. Jay knows lots of people around the area. So there's a heap of good tracks we get to practice on. Brett: So Daryl, next weekend at Wonthaggi……I suppose it will be a huge tussle between the King brothers yourself and Ando? Daryl: I’ve been racing Darryll and Shayne King a lot in New Zealand in the last couple of months and for me I think Ando is pretty much the main guy to beat in the series this year.
