Unedited race notes from our live reporting page

  • 1300 - Anthony Gobert was excluded from the race results due to a problem with his machine, possibly brake discs but not sure at this stage.  Mark Higgins and Earl Snowdon excluded due to having tyres that were not marked. Ashley Roe was given a 10 second penalty for jumping the start.  The reason Adam Fergusson faded so badly was because of a destroyed rear tyre
  • 1241 - Jamie Stauffer's 1m35.247 in that race sets a new Australian Production Superbike lap record at Phillip Island
  • 1236 - The finishing order - Brookes, J Stauffer, Giles, D Stauffer, Charlton, Johnson, Holland, Gobert, Allerton, Rees, Geronomi, Bugden, Turnbull, Etheridge.  We lost Krusty somewhere on that last lap I think
  • 1234 - Last lap, I think Brookesy has it. The Bringelly boy does it in a triumphant return to near full fitness following that sickening crash last year when he got t-boned by another rider.  Jamie takes 2nd, Gilesy 3rd
  • 1233 - Only a couple of laps to run and Brookesy with 1.4 seconds on Jamie who in turn has nearly 3 seconds on Giles who in turn has a couple of second advantage over Fergusson. Then it is Scott Charlton in 5th, Daniel Stauffer up to 6th, Shannon Johnson 7th, Russell Holland 8th
  • 1232 - Jamie still has the fastest lap time thus far but Brookesy is maintaining a hot pace as the laps progress and pulling ground on the Kawasaki rider
  • 1231 - Brookesy deliriously sideways under brakes into Honda Corner, magic to watch.  This is Brookesy's to win now unless anything untoward should happen. Jamie Stauffer still there but I don't think he will be able to pull back the 7-tenths the Honda now has on him.  Fergusson had some sort of problem and drifting right back now to 4th place behind Giles
  • 1230 - Fergusson nearly highsides at MG but holds on to it but it costs time and also slowed Jamie up a little and this could be all the advantage Brookes needs to secure the win.
  • 1229 - Fergusson back in to 2nd after getting Jamie into Siberia, the top three still very close. Gilesy now 2.5 seconds behind but still a very safe third.
  • 1228 - Down to MG and the order remains Brookes, Fergusson and Jamie Stauffer on the green meanie, Josh gets a great run between 11 and 12 for a good run on to the straight but still only 2-tenths of a second cover the leading trio across the stripe and Jamie slips past Krusty into turn 1. Henderson put it in the kitty litter but remounted
  • 1227 - Jamie Stauffer has the fastest race lap thus far with a 1m35.2 and he could be staging something here, the Honda's still 1-2 but Jamie definitely in with a chance of putting one over them. Brookesy very sideways under brakes, yes, even more than normal...  This battle is really heating up now
  • 1226 - Brookes still leading but Krusty and Jamie right on his tail, still anyone's ball game here between this three, it looks as though Gilesy may be out of the hunt for the win but sill a chance for a podium.  Scott Charlton 5th on his privateer Suzuki and then the first Yamaha is Shannon Johnson nearly five seconds behind the leaders
  • 1225 - Jamie Stauffer closing on Fergusson, Gilesy dropping off a little, the tyres may already be destroyed with the high track temperatures, the other boys on Michelins, Gilesy on Dunlop
  • 1224 - On to the main straight again and this time it is Honda 1-2 and Jamie Stauffer gets Gilesy into turn one to push the Suzuki back to 4th place
  • 1223 - Krusty under both Stauffer and Gilesy under brakes into Honda Corner to go from 4th to 2nd in one foul swoop. Brookesy still leading
  • 1222 - Brookesy holds off Giles down the main straight, this four still very close, no Yamahas to be seen...
  • 1221 - Gilesy in front, then Brookes, Fergusson and Stauffer, this four all very close and Brookesy trying around the outside at Lukey and gets the inside run for MG and makes the pass stick to take the lead
  • 1219 - Jamie Stauffer right on Gilesy's hammer and nearly makes a move at the Hayshed but thinks better of it that gives Brookesy an opening or MG though and slips through on Stauffer and Fergusson also on him getting to the straight but Gilesy blasts by them down the main straight
  • 1218 - Giles leads them in to turn one with Jamie Stauffer right behind him and closing through turn 2 and 3, Brookesy right behind them, down to Honda Corner still Giles from Stauffer then the two Hondas
