Team conquered the Wild West with a stunning display in the
second round of the Australian Nakedbike and FX Pro Twins
Championships at Perth’s Barbagallo Raceway May 27-29). Benn Archibald swept all before him taking six dominant victories, two pole positions and new lap records in both classes with team mate, John Allen, not too far behind finishing second in his races. “It was one of those perfect weekends. Even while running them in I knew the Aluma-Lite Aprilia’s were ready for the job and they only got better as the racing went on. Their just an awesome machine that makes the job easier and so much more fun! They are one excellent package. “The team had been working extremely hard since Eastern Creek so it was a just reward for all the work that they have put in - especially Stef and Junior.” From the opening moments of practice it was clear that this would be a special weekend as the Aluma Lite Aprilia Team was at the head of the time sheets demonstrating the power and handling capabilities of both the Aprilia RSV 1000 R Factory and the Tuono Gara, the events of Eastern Creek now a distant memory. In the three FX Pro-Twin races, Benn left them standing from the start with defending FX Pro-Twins champion Craig McMartin having no answer on his Ducati finishing a distant third in all races, the closest gap nearly 10 seconds. In the Nakeds Benn’s dominance wasn’t as pronounced but still kept the field at a fair distance to take two of the wins by over six seconds as John retired from the first race with a mechanical problem. With no parts at hand to rectify the situation, John was forced to sit out the remaining races. With less than a week to prepare for the next round it will be another busy meeting at Mallala (SA) this weekend June 3-5 The fast and flowing layout of the track proved successful for the team last year and no doubt with the performance of the Aluma-Lite Aprilia Racing Team in Perth there are plenty of signs to indicate that the victories will continue to flow but the team wont be complacent. No doubt, the Ducati squad will be aiming to improve to get closer to the Aprilia’s but Benn and John will be both just as keen to take the lead in the title with the points gap now considerably closer.
