It could be words for an advertising campaign but being “perfect one weekend and perfect the next” are the only appropriate words to sum up the efforts of Benn Archibald on the Aluma-Lite Aplilia’s as he has been absolutely faultless two weekends on the trot.

At the third round of the 2005 Yamalube Australian Nakedbike and FX Pro Twins Championships held at Mallala (SA) on June 3-5, Benn and the Gold Coastbased Aluma Lite Team repeated their efforts from the previous weekend to take away a perfect score: two pole positions, two lap records and yet another six wins from six starts in both classes.

With 12 wins on the trot (and four lap records and four pole positions) Benn is closing in on the the best winning streak in modern Australian Championship road racing history. Two more wins and he equals the best strike rate set in 2003, another win will engrave his name in the record books.

On current form it would take a brave man to bet against him beating the record considering his latest perfect score was achieved suffering a severe dose of the flu.

With two stellar weekends, Benn has taken another step to consecutive Australian Nakebike Championships and after his horror weekend at the opening round he has recovered to close within seven points of current FX Pro Twins title leader, Craig McMartin moving into second spot and relegating his teammate John Allen to third - albiet just two points in arrears.

From the opening moments of qualifying there was a quiet expectation from the team that another special weekend was in the offering.

“Two weekend’s in a row with perfect reaults in both classes is something I will remember for a long time,” beamed Benn. “The Aprilia’s are just a sensational piece of engineering and the lads that are working on them are just as good.”

“We gave the bikes to someone else before the first round and they did a few things wrong but since we have done all the work in the Aluma-Lite workshops everything has come together.

It’s a reflection of the team how well the bikes are going now and a big compliment has to go to Stef and Junior again. Without them we wouldn’t be where we are now.”

Team owner/manager Derek Williams was equally enthused saying, “Benn is just such an exceptional rider. The times he is doing would put him right up there in the Superbike class. He just keeps getting faster and John isn’t too far behind him either. This season is shaping as something special in Australian road
racing."
