| It was back to back racing as
the Australian Superbike Championship travelled from Western
Australia to South Australia’s Mallala circuit for another fine
weekend of racing. The Premiere Superbike class provided a full
and fiercely competitive field with a strong presence of
top-level Factory riders and Privateers. Scott had a difficult weekend, struggling to find a race set up for the Mighty Suzuki GSXR 1000. Friday’s practice, Scott ran consistently 8th quickest but by the afternoon session, he had managed to drop a 1.3 seconds off his first practice time, bringing him down to 1.08.225. With only 1 second separating the top 8 riders, the Superbikes were set to provide some great viewing for the spectators and again showed the top level of competition present here in Australia. Scott continued to battle front end handling issues throughout Saturdays qualifying sessions. After making multiple changes in an attempt to resolve the problem, Scott was unable to improve his times to his satisfaction. Scott managed to shave two tenths of a second off his previous time to qualify in 9th position. Sunday, Race day and Scott had still not resolved his frustrating handling difficulties. Scott ran consistently throughout both races and managed to finish 9th in Race 1 and improved in Race 2, finishing in 8th position. These results placed Scott 2nd Privateer and 8th overall for Round 4. Scott still leads the Superbike Privateer Cup, and is currently running in 6th position in the Australian Superbike Championship. These results are still provisional due to controversial goings on, with appeals yet to be heard, it is likely to affect the placing’s among the top ten. Scott is looking forward to some test time on the bike, concentrating on the handling and set up of the extremely powerful Suzuki. Scott is hoping to improve his results and move ahead after the winter break, when we travel to Winton for Round 5 of the Australian Superbike Championship on August 19th – August 21st 2005. |
