Unedited on-the-fly notes from our live coverage of
the event
- 1804 - Got to catch a plane so I'm off now... Hope
you enjoyed the coverage... Until Queensland in a few weeks,
same bat channel etc. etc.
- 1803 -
Provisional Results from Superbike Race 2 -
Superbike Championship Points
- 1740 - Superbike results - Bugden, Fergusson, Brookes, D
Stauffer, J Stauffer, Holland, Greedy, Allerton, Giles, Coote, Rees,
Charlton, Etheridge, Maxwell, Roe, Ellis
- 1737 - Last lap still Bugden in front but looking messy, lappers
are going to figure, Krusty looking for an opportunity, they go
round the back of the circuit, Bugden has an edge on acceleration
and that could be what counts, Krusty trying under brakes, down to
the final tow turns but no Bugden's Yamaha pulls away again, they
drive on to the straight and Bugden gets it. A fantastic ride
and then both of them head off to the grass and fall over on the
entrance to turn 1 after they get the chequered flag to give a
comedic ending to a great battle. And that was right in front
of the crowd on the hill who voiced their appreciation. A
great end to the day
- 1735 - Bugden protecting well in the corners and Krusty can't
get off the race line as he will find the damp patches...
Krusty will be getting very frustrated.. 2 to run
- 1734 - Bugden and Fergusson trying hard but it must be said that
Bugden's Yamaha YZF-R1 looks to have a mumbo advantage over the Joe
Rocket Honda... Krusty looks to have the handling but there is
certainly no shortage of neddies finding their way to Bugden's rear
Dunlop
- 1733 - Johnson went grass tracking to lose that 3rd place to
Brookes. Krusty put in a new fastest lap that time around to
be on Bugden's tailpipe again with 4 laps to run
- 1731 - Brookesy has pulled away from Dan Stauffer and closed
right onto the tailpipe of Johnson to challenge for 3rd place but
that battle unfolding 10 seconds behind the leading duo of Bugden
and Fergusson
- 1730 - Bugden responds to Krusty's challenge and managed to
extend the gap again a little. Hendo again ends this race in
the kitty litter to put a cap on one of the worst weekends ever for
the Shepparton privateer
- 1729 - 7 to run and Fergusson all over Bugden now...
Brookesy up to 4th after getting the better of Dan Stauffer
- 1727 - Brookesy got the better of Gilesy for 5th and a lap later
Gilesy ran off the circuit but somehow remained upright while
splashing through some puddles slow time. He rejoined the
circuit in 9th place 3 seconds ahead of his team-mate. 8 laps to run
and Krusty has reduced Bugden's lead to only half a second
- 1726 - 9 laps to run and Krusty is on it now to lower the new
fastest mark of this race down to a 1m24.05 to pull 7-tenths out of
Bugden to reduce the gap to a single second. Shannon 4 seconds
behind them with 4 seconds on the battle for 4th which is shaping up
as a ripper
- 1725 - The battle for 4th really hotting up now as Brookesy has
joined the fun good and proper
- 1724 - Krusty up to 2nd and pulling away from Johnson.
Bugden has a 1.7 second lead but there is 10 laps to run...
Brookesy has closed up to the back of the Dan Stauffer / Shawn Giles
battle over 4th
- 1723 - Fergusson being held up by Johnson, the Yamaha looks
faster in a straight line but Krusty all over him in the corners...
- 1721 - Bugden leading by more than a second now after putting in
a new fastest lap, 1m24.492. Fergusson climbing all over the back of
Johnson. Dan Stauffer ahead of Giles. Brookesy running 6th. Gobert
started up the front but must have had some sort of early problem
- 1720 - Gilesy and Dan Stauffer running 1m25s on road rubber.
Fergusson the fastest man on the circuit on that last time around
with a 1m24.98
- 1719 - Still Bugden with 14 laps to run he has half a second on
Johnson, the same gap back to Fergusson in 3rd while Dan Stauffer
and Shawn Giles battle over 4th place
- 1717 - Johnson has a slick on the rear and a 209 GP on the front
while Dan Stauffer, Shawn Giles and Glenn Allerton shod with 209 GPs
at both ends
- 1716 - Pretty much all the Dunlop men on road rubber while the
Michelin shod Honda boys on slicks and Bugden also on slicks but in
his case they are Dunlop hoops
- 1716 - Bugden leading and looking good. We had a privateer win
the Supersport race could we see a privateer take out the Superbike
race...?
- 1715 - Shannon very wide but remains upright but the mistake
lets Bugden through and Fergusson all over him
- 1714 - Away they go and again Johnson gets the jump, Bugden in
2nd this time around ahead of Krusty and Giles with Dan Stauffer and
Anthony Gobert following
- 1713 - On the grid now getting ready to go, a fair amount of the
field seems to be on road tyres..
- 1712 - Solid dry line out there now and most of the field I
guess will be on slicks or very lightly cut slicks
- 1711 - Darren Naughton is being carted off to Wangaratta
Hospital now for some x-rays and he will probably remain there for
observation overnight as he took a good knock in the fall.
Superbikes heading out of pitlane again now for their formation lap
- 1656 - The race will be fully restarted. Dan Stauffer was
well down in the field after going in to change his machine prior to
the race start so he will be glad of the re-start as long as the
riders down are all okay
- 1653 - Red flag out, a number of riders down a the start of the
pit straight. Medical staff attending to them. One of the riders
down we believe is Darren Naughton
- 1652 - Johnson leads them across the stripe to start lap two
with 4-tenths on Krusty, Gobert a further half a second behind in
3rd place, Brookesy 4th, Giles 5th, Bugden 6th, Maxwell 7th,
Etheridge 8th
- 1651 - Johnson on wets front and rear... Gobert wet front,
intermediate rear... Others on various... Johnson gets the jump off
the line to take the lead with Fergusson and Gobert, very much a dry
line out there now
- 1650 - Superbikes completing their warm up lap now...
- 1640 - Superbikes will be heading out of pit lane for their
formation lap shortly. No rain falling, wet track off line and only
slightly damp track on the racing line... Just what you want on a
near 200 horsepower Superbike... It's times like this I'm not
jealous of these boys at all
- 1632 - Henry takes the win by 14 seconds on combined time over
Stephen Liddicoat who finished with an equal gap of 14 seconds over
3rd placed Aaron Phillips. Ingram 4th followed by Webster, Higgins,
Christie, Burns, Hay and Andrews... Superbikes out next and
the track has a dry line forming but is still very wet off the
racing line
- 1630 - As they start the last lap it is Henry by more than 12
seconds on combined time with Liddicoat in 2nd place with a similar
gap over 3rd placed Aaron Phillips
- 1626 - Riders heading off the circuit every which way at various
turns with yellow flags being waved all over the place but things
progress with Ben Henry leading on combined time by 7 seconds over
Stephen Liddicoat with 3 laps to run
- 1624 - Superstockers away again for their final five laps and
Ben Henry sat on the line as the field pulled away but he has more
than 4 seconds on the field on combined time so he can take his time
working up to speed
- 1613 - The race will be restarted with five laps to go and the
results decided on combined time...
- 1611 - Ben Henry pulling away out in front while Clarke trying
to find a way past Drew Bennett until Clarke dumped it under brakes
which took out Bennett also but then the race was then red flagged
with only half the race distance down...
- 1607 - Ben Henry took the lead on the second lap and Clint
Clarke moved up to 3rd place behind Drew Bennett
- 1606 - Superstock final race underway with them teetering around
on 208RR Dunlop control tyres that saw the slithering around on the
wet Winton surface. Drew Bennett the leader at the end of the first
lap ahead of Darren Edwards, Ben Henry, Clint Clarke ad Aaron
Phillips
- 1554 - Twins race just wrapped up, Superstock on next and then
we have the Superbikes.
- 1543 - Final Pro Twins race on now and Anderson leads the way
from Johnston, Collins, Clark, Johnston, McMartin, Snowden and
Fripp. Looks like only 8 started the race, 5 laps to run
- 1541 -
Supersport Round and Series Overall Championship Standings
- 1530 - Brookes still leads the overall series with 225 from
Fergusson on 222 then Staring is now 3rd overall on 170 points which
is the equal tally to Aitchison who is 4th, Waters 5th on 153 points
- 1526 -
Provisional Supersport Race 2 Results
-
1523 - Staring takes the win an cruises across the
line with his fist in the air to pitlane. Stanley takes 2nd place
4.3 seconds behind, Aitchison 3rd, Fergusson 4th, Davies 5th and
Seaton worked his way up to an incredible 6th place and took the
fastest lap of the race on his way through the field. Clarke
7th, Jones 8th, Waters 9th, Coote 10th then it was Fitzgerald,
Quinn, O'Halloran,
- 1522 - Last lap now and Staring the clear leader, he just has to
bring it home...
- 1520 - 2 laps to go and Staring now 4 seconds ahead, Aitchison
still a clear 3rd place and Krusty a clear 4th. Waters is going to
have to fight Davies if he wants to keep 5th
- 1518 - 3 laps to run and the race order is - Staring with nearly
3 seconds on Stanley who in turns has a similar gap to third placed
Aitchison. Krusty now 4 seconds further down and he has so little
rear end grip that it looks like having a knobbly with 5 psi air
pressure in it
- 1516 - Staring now has a 1.5 second lead over Stanley. Aitchison
a further couple of seconds down in 3rd but now with a full second
over Fergusson. Then 8 seconds further down it is Waters from
Davies, Clarke, Coote, Jones, Fitzgerald and the Seaton still the
fastest man on the circuit and up to 11th
- 1515 - Krusty back to 4th now, his Michelins completely rooted
now by the looks of it. Staring and Aitchison now have 1.5
seconds on their pursuers
- 1514 - Seaton again the quickest man but still only up to 14th,
he just went a couple of seconds quicker on that lap than the
leaders...!
- 1513 - Stanley up the inside of Krusty for 2nd place with 6 to
run. Staring now has a lead of 7-tenths of a second but the
top four still covered by less than a second. Staring has clear
track, can he pull away....?
- 1512 - Staring all over the back of Fergusson, only a matter of
time before he makes a challenge... Stanley there also still. There
it is Staring to the lead, the WA teenager hits the lead
- 1511 - Staring got the better of Aitchison for 3rd and then
touched Stanley challenging for 2nd but had to pull out of the move
and lost some ground but quickly he was back up there and with 7
laps to run Staring moved past Stanley to take that second place
- 1510 - Seaton down in 18th place but just set a new fastest lap
of the race. It seems as though as the track dries out the
Bridgestone wets are holding together better and offering their
riders better performance. Fergusson of course on Michelin but
I believe Stanley runs Bridgestone and we have Aitchison running
Dunlop, Staring on Bridgestone and the fastest man on the track all
that way back is also a Bridgestone runner
- 1509 - Staring just set a new fastest lap of the race and was
half a second quicker than the race leader that lap but more
importantly he more than half a second quicker than third placed
Aitchison to narrow the gap down to only a couple of bike lengths
- 1507 - Krusty takes the lead again with 10 laps to run as the
track starts to dry out a little and the wets squirm away under
power
- 1506 - Staring just put in the fastest lap of the race to pull a
couple of tenths out of Aitchison but he has a lot of work to do as
the Yamaha man has over a second on him.
- 1504 - Stanley now 7-tenths ahead of Krusty. Aitchison
only a couple of lengths behind Krusty in 3rd place while Staring
has promoted himself to 4th place after getting the better of
Waters. Brookesy 2 seconds off the pace in this encounter and
running in 8th position
- 1502 - Stanley back to the front late on that lap, less than a
second covering the top four which with 13 laps to run is Stanley,
Fergusson, Aitchison while Staring is another half a second behind
in 5th place
- 1500 - Stanley up to 2nd place now and on the back of Fergusson
and Stanley was 7-tenths quicker than Fergusson on that last lap.
Stanley got Fergusson under brakes then Krusty got him back a couple
of corners later after shooting up the inside and nudged him a bit
wide to let him know he is now playing with the big boys
- 1459 - Stanley got the better of Staring for 4th place then went
underneath Waters to take 3rd position and slot in behind Aitchison.
Stanley 1.5 seconds faster than everyone on that lap...
- 1458 - Only a second covering the leading quartet after that
first lap with Mark Stanley not too much further behind and closing
- 1457 - Krusty leads them through turn 1 with Aitchison in behind
him while Brookes again got a shocker off the line. Josh Waters up
to 3rd place ahead of fellow young gun Bryan Staring who is riding
in quite a deal of discomfort after having a very big off at
Wanneroo last weekend.
- 1455 - On the grid now, no rain falling but all the top runners
on full wets due to the very wet track
- 1452 - The Supersport boys are away for their warm up lap and
again Krusty pulled into the pits after the formation lap to switch
bikes before starting the warm up from pit lane along with a number
of other riders
- 1439 - Blake Leigh-Smith ends up taking the win by 5 seconds
over Rigoli, Galvin the veteran takes 3rd place, Andrew Willy 4th,
Tim Inkster 5th, Rhys Moller 6th and Jordan Coleman remounted to
work his way back up to 7th just ahead of Paul Campbell. Thompson
9th while Gleave rounded out the top ten.
- 1434 - Blake Leigh-Smith leading now by nearly a full second as
Rigoli tries to hold on. Coleman in front of Galvin through the
corners but he can then seemingly easily blast past on the
straights. Coleman put up a good fight before rolling off into
the sand after losing it under brakes trying to make up for his lack
of straight line speed
- 1430 - Smith went through the left hander what must have been
10kph faster than Rigoli that time around to take the lead. WA
youngster Jordan Coleman climbing all over the back of Galvin
- 1429 - 6 laps to run and Leigh-Smith all over the back of Rigoli
as they start lap three. Hatton and Panayi went for a slide
down the road together
- 1428 - Have the pace looks to be an understatement as he went
past Galvo around the outside as though he was standing still and
was on the back of Rigoli only a couple of corners later.
- 1427 - Blake Leigh-Smith working his way forward and up to 3rd
place as they start lap two, he looks to have the pace to close down
Galvin and Rigoli also if he remains upright
- 1426 - Tom Hatton bogged down on the line terribly but no such
dramas for Brent Rigoli who started to pull away from the field
almost immediately from Peter Galvin and Chris Panayi
- 1424 - No rain falling right now but track very wet. The 125
race might become a case of last man standing...
- 1423 - 125 GP bikes leaving pit lane now on their formation lap.
We really need to make up some time on the schedule here today or we
are going to be racing in the dark by the time the final Superbike
race comes up
- 1416 - Pictorial -
Gallery H
- 1414 - Nakedbike Race 3 - Rattenbury wins from David Anderson on
the very wet track while Graeme Wilshaw fell off and remounted for
third place some 44 seconds behind the race winner. Jon Collins got
4th and was followed home by Smith, Mills, Marukic, Cartwright and
Olm. Only 9 starts in that race. 125 GP out next then Supersport
race 2
- 1350 - Racing should be underway again at 1400 when the
Nakedbikes will splash around for their last race of the weekend
followed by 125 GP, Supersport, Twins, Superstock, Superbike and C&D
will round out the day if we have any light left by the time we get
that far. Rain has stopped again but the track is drenched
- 1343 - Rain really falling here now
- 1330 - Way behind schedule here today so we will now have a
shortened lunch break before getting back into it
- 1320 - Provisional Superbike Race 1 Results (Stopped early due
to increasing rain)
- 1315 - Red Flag due to the increasing rain, just in
time for Dan Stauffer as he ran off into the grass at the end of the
pit straight. I believe they have completed the required number of
laps for the race to be declared with the race results deciding on
the race order at the end of the previous lap which will see Krusty
take the win from Dan Stauffer. I also believe Brookes will
not get the 3rd place he crossed the line with as with the race
counted back to the lap previous to that move Shannon might retain
his 3rd place. Bugden 5th, Gobert 6th, Giles 7th, Allerton 8th then
it is Charlton, Jamie Stauffer rounds out the top ten.
- 1314 - The race pace has dropped off only a couple of seconds
due to the moisture, Brookesy the one to benefit, they will slow
more now though as the rain starting to pick up a little.
Bugden coming under attack from Gobert who is liking the conditions
- 1313 - Krusty comes across the stripe again as the rain drizzles
down lightly. Brookesy made a liar of me and slipped past Johnson
for 3rd as the Yamaha men must have buttoned right off because of
the moisture
- 1312 - Krusty was making some hand signals to his team in pit
lane as he came past that time around, indicating that there could
be some moisture falling around the circuit. Yes it is coming in
now, the boys out on slicks and a few drops of rain starting to fall
- 1311 - Brookesy up to 4th now but that is realistically as high
as he can hope to get with only 6 laps to run. Krusty now has
2 seconds on Dan who in turn has over a second on Shannon
- 1309 - Krusty now 1.7 seconds ahead of Dan Stauffer who in turn
has managed to gap Shannon by a few tenths. Bugden in 4th but
starting to come under attack from Brookes who is quickening his
pace, that battle taking place a full 10 seconds behind the race
leader though
- 1308 - Lapped riders becoming a factor already and both Yamaha
men got baulked a little on that lap
- 1307 - Krusty has pulled away from the Yamaha men a little now.
Dan just went underneath Shannon for 2nd place after deciding it is
his turn to try and chase down Krusty to try and make a challenge
but the gap between them is now out to 1.2 seconds with 8 laps to
run
- 1306 - Brookesy underneath Gobert for 5th place. Gilesy running
7th after getting the better of his Suzuki team-mate
- 1305 - Robert Bugden up to 4th place after getting Gobert out of
the esses, Brookes all over the back of Gobert now also. Only
4-tenths covering the top trio still but they are 8 seconds ahead of
that battle for 4th
- 1304 - Brookes up to 6th place after dispensing with the two
Suzuki men. Anthony still 4th but having to get a little
sideways to stay there
- 1303 - 12 laps to run and now less than half a second covering
the top trio. Then it is Gobert a full 5 seconds further
behind and Dan the fastest man on that last lap once again, will be
challenging Shannon for 2nd any time now
- 1302 - Anthony Gobert still in 4th place and benefiting a little
from the heady battle just behind him between Allerton, Bugden,
Giles and Brookes
- 1301 - Fergusson, Johnson and Dan Stauffer the pacesetters and
the only men in the 1m23s, Dan the fastest lap thus far with a
1m23.50
- 1300 - Bugden up to 6th place after making a move on Giles, now
harassing Allerton for 5th
- 1259 - 15 laps to run and Fergusson still with 4-tenths over
Johnson who in turn has half a second on Dan Stauffer. Anthony
Gobert now more than a second behind Dan and being closed down by
Glenn Allerton, Shawn Giles, Robert Bugden and Josh Brookes.
- 1258 - Fergusson put down a 1m28.7 from a standing start to pull
out 4-tenths over Shannon on that first lap while Dan Stauffer
promoted himself up to 3rd after passing Gobert. Henderson went down
softly on the second lap. 1256 - Superbikes away! Krusty gets a good
run but Brookesy didn't so it is Krusty leading them through the
first turns with Shannon Johnson right up his clacker and Anthony
Gobert quickly up to 3rd place ahead of Dan Stauffer and Glenn
Allerton
- 1245 - Just went and had a word with Brookesy about the knee he
damaged in that crash yesterday. He said it certainly hurts
but won't hold him back at all in the races which is good news
- 1239 - Richard Manning just took out the C&D race from Richard
Moore and Richard Liminton, Riko Partoosh scored 4th on the smaller
bike. Superbike race 1 up next, drizzle has stopped, track is dry,
but no telling what will happen in the next 15 minutes or so...
- 1225 - Results thus far today -
Nakedbike Race 2 -
125 GP Race 2 -
Supersport Race 1 -
Twins Race 2 -
Superstock Race 2 - C&D riders on their warm up lap now and just
after officials had declared the track 'dry' a little light drizzle
blew in just to get the Superbike boys a bit more nervous as they
are out after the C&D race is run and won
- 1212 - Superstock Race 2 Results - Phillips, Ingram, Hay,
Andrews, Bartlome, Edwards, Casella, Figueiredo, Quinn, Higgins,
Dowell, Webster, Griffin, Vogel, Cowie, Bennett, Brewster, Baker,
Christie, Ready
- 1210 - Hay enjoying a remarkable ride after having to start from
the back of the grid after getting penalised for an infringement
yesterday, up to 4th with a lap to go and only 4-tenths behind the
leader...
- 1207 - The field managed to close on Phillips and with 3 laps to
run his lead had been shaved to only 8-tenths of a second from
Ingram who was riding in close company with Damon Bartlome and Ian
Andrews. Grant Hay was running 5th ahead of Edwards,
Figueiredo, Dowell, Casella, Quinn, Watson, Clarke
- 1204 - Late on that lap Doddrell went down and also Bonthorne
- 1203 - Aaron Phillips with more than 2 seconds on the field with
6 laps to run, Damon Bartlome 2nd, Shane Ingram 3rd while Ian
Andrews and Dean Bonthorne fight a battle over 4th place
- 1200 - Superstockers are off the line on the now completely dry
track and it is Aaron Phillips leading them around for the first
time with Ducati rider Ben Henry following close behind until he got
spat off around the tight back section
- 1150 - McMartin took the Pro Twins race win from Fripp
- 1140 - Pictorial -
Gallery G
- 1139 - Stuart Fripp currently leading the Pro Twins race from
Craig McMartin
- 1132 - Provisional Results from Australian Supersport Race 1
- 1130 - Krusty the only man to get down to the 1m26s after
putting in a 1m26.789 on the final lap
- 1127 - Krusty takes the win after lapping the whole field up to
I believe 6th place. Jordan Coote does get 3rd place, Seaton 4th,
Gareth Jones takes an excellent 5th place, Mark Stanley 6th, Bryan
Staring 7th
- 1126 - Krusty now has 2 seconds on Brookes. Coote all over the
back of Seaton as they negotiate the last lap
- 1124 - The Honda men now have more than 30 seconds on the rest
of the field. Seaton still holding down third place but the
gap back to Coote in 4th now only 1.7 seconds as he slithers his way
around Winton on some severely shagged out wets
- 1122 - By the way the only reporters from a print magazine again
here today is KW from AMCN. Again the other major print magazines
don't bother sending any reporters to our national superbike series.
Instead some actually just blag what they can from our live notes
and other areas to make up the story later...
- 1121 - Both Krusty and Brookes down to 1m27s now and Krusty
holds a 4-tenth advantage over his team-mate with 4 laps to run
- 1120 - The Honda men now 22 seconds ahead of the field with 5
laps to run. Seaton still a clear second place but being caught by
Coote but the Yamaha man has 6 seconds to make up and only 5 laps to
do it but he looks to have the pace to be able to pull it off
- 1119 - Lapped traffic could end up deciding the outcome and
Brookesy might benefit from being second on the track so Krusty has
to wake them up first
- 1118 - Krusty into the lead late on that lap and kept the
advantage as they crossed the stripe to mark 6 laps to run
- 1117 - Krusty not letting him have it however as he retaliates
with a 1m28.0 to pull a few tenths back out of Brookesy's lead which
was now down to half a second with 7 laps to run. Seaton was 15
seconds adrift in a clear third place, 8 seconds ahead of Coote.
- 1116 - Brookesy the first man down to the 1m28s after pulling
7-tenths out of Krusty on that lap
- 1115 - Past the halfway mark now, 8 laps to run and the order;
Brookes, Fergusson, then a country mile to Seaton, Coote, Stanley,
Jones, Staring, Clarke, Stalder, Davies
- 1114 - Brookesy pulled alongside Krusty with nine laps to run
and took the lead into turn one. Aitchison stayed with them until
the old turn one which was the corner his wet front decided to cry
enough and pitch him into the dirt.
- 1112 - Passing is not an easy task at Winton today as while the
race line is nice and dry once the bikes wander off the race line
they are afforded only little grip
- 1111 - Seaton starting to lose though with the leading trio now
as his wets start to destroy themselves. Aitchison still
hanging on to the front men however with his wet front Dunlop
looking to be holding in okay
- 1110 - The race line is nearly completely dry now which should
play into Honda's hands. Fergusson takes the lead with 12 laps to
run
- 1109 - Mark Stanley has lost though with the leading quartet and
is being closed down by Jordan Coote. The injured Bryan Staring
holding down 7th place just ahead of Brendan Clarke
- 1108 - Aitchison immediately closed on the Honda men and started
to challenge, don't think his front wet will stay with him over the
whole race distance however
- 1107 - Seaton made a liar out of me by taking second place from
Krusty but the #1 plate holder was back through again a few corners
later while Seaton started to come under increasing attack from
Aitchison who got the better of him with 13 laps to run.
- 1106 - 14 laps to run and it is Brookesy and Krusty running 1-2
after getting the better of Seaton. I expect the two Honda men to
disappear now and have their own battle for the win. Aitchison was
the quickest man on that last lap though
- 1105 - Aitchison got the better of Stanley to push his way back
up to 4th place. Seaton is on full wets, Aitchison has a wet front,
the Honda men are running normal Supersport rubber, Stanley on full
wets
- 1104 - The leading five looked fairly well set with 16 laps to
run as they had broke away from the field already. Stanley had
pushed his way up to 4th place after passing Aitchison while Seaton
continued to lead from Brookesy
- 1103 - Through the tight section around the back of the circuit
Aitchison got the better of Fergusson momentarily before the order
reversed again while Chris Seaton took the lead from Josh Brookes.
Mark Stanley looking strong in 5th
- 1102 - Away they go, Brookesy and Krusty get away well and it is
Brookesy that leads the field through turn 1, Aitchison 3rd and
looking ready to get aggressive, Chris Seaton 4th
- 1101 - On the grid now, getting ready to go...
- 1059 - The Supersport men did their warm up lap and Adam
Fergusson then promptly pitted to change bikes, presumably he went
out to try the feel of one tyre on the formation lap and then shot
into pitlane to grab his other bike and then started the warm up lap
from pitlane
- 1049 - Supersport men out next for their first race of the
weekend. Even though the drizzle has stopped I expect to see
just about the whole field running full wets in this 17 lap race
- 1046 - The race win goes to Blake Leigh-Smith by 10 seconds
while Andrew Willy pipped Chris Panayi on the line for second place.
Peter Galvin put in a last lap charge to get the better of Jordan
Coleman for 4th place, Peter Scott 6th, Tom Hatton 7th, Tim Inkster
8th then it was Gleave, Rigoli, Moller, Campbell, Wilkinson, Metcher
and Thompson
- 1044 - Something went down on the penultimate lap as Blake
Leigh-Smith suddenly had a lead of more than ten seconds as Vincent
Bell seemed to have slipped off somewhere and Chris Panayi and
Andrew Willy had managed to push young Jordan Coleman back to 4th
place
- 1041 - 3 laps to run and Panayi just pushed Galvin back to 5th
but young Blake Leigh-Smith still the quickest man out in front with
a 2 second gap over Bell, Coleman still 3rd
- 1038 - Young Blake Leigh Smith the leader with five laps to run
and pulling away from Vincent Bell while Jordan Coleman had also got
the better of Galvin to take 3rd place with 4 laps to run as the
drizzle continued to fall at Winton
- 1037 - 125 GP race underway now and it was Brent Rigoli and
Chris Panayi the early protagonists out in front before both men
went down on the entry to the pit straight before even getting to
start the second lap. Vincent Bell inherited the lead with a 1.5
second gap over the now second placed Peter Galvin who in turn had
more than 2 seconds on WA youngster Tom Hatton. The even younger
Blake Leigh Smith was having a good battle over 5th place with the
equally young Jordan Coleman but after Cath Thompson fell from 4th
place with six laps to run that battle became a tussle over 4th
place and then a battle for 3rd place after the pair got the better
of Tom Hatton to push the Allect Racing rider back to 5th. Chris
Panayi was busy working his way forward after that crash late on the
first lap and with six laps to run had promoted himself back up to
6th place ahead of Peter Scott and Andrew Willy.

- 1022 - I wouldn't read anything into them but for those that get
excited about such things here are the results from the wet morning
warm up. Some riders on wets some on intermediates which generally
are normal road tyres such as 208 GP Dunlops although there seem to
be some new 209 GP hoops getting around also while the Michelin boys
would be running treaded Pilot Race tyres possibly with the addition
of some more cuts strategically placed at various points on the

Supersport Warm up
- 1020 - Simon Rattenbury took the Nakedbike race win from Jon
Cartwright who funnily enough crashed on the warm down lap.
However there is talk that Cartwright may have passed Van Rooyen
under a yellow flag so the second place result is under question
although it is safe to say that Rattenbury is the winner. As they
crossed the line Anderson was 4th followed home by Wilshaw, Hoare,
Collins, Smith, Marukic and Olm
- 1010 - The first race of the day just kicked off with James Van
Rooyen leading the Nakedbike field around on the first lap ahead of
Simon Rattenbury and Jon Cartwright on a very wet Winton Motor
Raceway even though the drizzle had stopped prior to the race start
the track is soaked
