Gadea got the holeshot and immediately started pulling away from Faubel and Kallio.

As the laps progressed a clear group of four had established themselves up front and with 16 laps to run it was Pasini with his nose in front of Gadea, Kallio and Talmacsi while a little further back Faubel and Luthi were running fifth and sixth respectively.  Luthi was obviously happy to sit there as with a 23 point lead in the championship any half reasonable finished would be enough to secure him the title if Kallio went on to win the race.

Gadea hit the front again with a bit over ten laps to run and Poggiali threw himself down the road with seven laps to run.

Gadea had increased his lead to 1.3 seconds before going down with six laps to run handing Pasini the race lead with Kallio and Talmacsi tucked in his slipstream.

An exciting three way battle to the line mounted and it was Kallio who took the win from Talmacsi and Pasini.  Faubel was fourth, Simoncelli fifth, Koyama sixth, Lai seventh and Simon eighth and Luthi cruised home in ninth to take the 2005 125cc World Championship.
