It seemed that Casey Stoner was in trouble during last two days of practices but the Australian rider no.27 got an excellent second position here in Barcelona; the same position that Casey is holding now in the provisional world standing with 96 points. After having started from the eighth position Casey began to impose his pace thanks to the setting changes he had this morning during the warm up session and lap by lap he chased the firsts riders getting a well-deserved second position behind Pedrosa. Although the rib fracture Roberto Locatelli finished in twelfth position and he is now fifteenth in world standing with 15 points. Casey Stoner - 2nd - “This week end has been very difficult for us I thought we would have been more competitive from the beginning but we had a lot of problems with the set up. I went out n this morning warm up and found a good setting for the race but we did not tested for the race distance because the tome was not enough. So we had a little bit of gamble going into the race to see what tyres and everything we should use. Fortunately we made the right choice and made the right setting. Even my bad start we were fast enough to make away through… there’s a few crazy riders out there; they were making things very difficult for me but at the end I got the second place. I tried to catch Dani but it was impossible because after I got into second place I was only able to match the lap time of Dani so it was impossible to close the gap on him”. Roberto Locatelli 12th - “After two days of troubled practices with this painful fracture of the rib I feel quite satisfied about this position. This is not an excellent result but today I raced in very difficult conditions. I just want to thank my team for their support and their job because they have been able to set up my bike in the best way although the problems I had”. |
