No Fear Honda’s Craig Anderson made a significant leap forward in the National Motocross Championships points chase after winning his fourth straight round in a row at Toowoomba on Sunday.

Ando now sits just six points behind series leader Hurley after once again amassing enough points to declare the win over his primary rival.

His results at the ever popular Echo Valley circuit’s round seven included grabbing pole position followed by a first place race finish in front of team mate Cody Cooper in moto one, and a second place from Hurley in moto two.

An unrelenting display of world-class riding is ensuring the 28 year old New South Welshman continues to provide dedicated crowds with one of the closest, most interesting competitions in years.

“It was good to get another win today and to get a few more points on the board,” Ando said.

“This series is proving to be very close and it’s not going to be easy to win it. I’m putting in my all and know that I’ll need to do that again over the next three rounds in order to come out on top.”

Cooper provided Ando the competition early on in the meeting keeping pace with his team mate in qualifying, and finishing behind him by just under four seconds in moto one.

Sore arms and legs from the “very rough” circuit got the better of the Kiwi rider in the second race, but he still managed a decent seventh place to finish fourth overall.

“Moto one went really well and I was happy to get second behind Ando. My overall result wasn’t too bad, but I was disappointed with that second race. I’m still one point away from the podium and it’s my goal to finish there one way or another by the end of this series.”

While Honda’s Pro Open competitors came away with a smile on their face, Lites rider Troy Dorron experienced a round that he would “rather forget.”

Going into Toowoomba as series leader, Doz crashed in both motos, resulting in a non-points scoring round and a very sore shoulder for his troubles.

“I can’t remember the last time I had a round where I didn’t get some points on the board, so all I can say is today was one I’d rather forget,” the seasoned rider said.

“I managed to get tangled up with a slow rider in moto one, and actually crashed twice in moto two. I’m pretty sore and bruised and my shoulder is in a lot of pain but I’m generally okay.”

“I’d say I’ll be fine for the next round but I’m very disappointed that I’ve lost the lead position.”

Troy’s consistent results throughout the season have helped him to retain third position even after this weekend’s less than ideal result.

Fellow Lites contender Danny Anderson fared somewhat better, and finished the round on a high note after clocking up his best results to date. With a fourth and sixth place race finish, the 19 year old took fourth overall and brought himself up the Championship ladder into the top ten.

“This was my best result of the season so far and each round seems to be getting better. I’m now in the top ten so I’m happy about that.”

According to Team Manager Pip Harrison, the No Fear horde experienced a mixed weekend. “Doz took some hard knocks and ended up not scoring which was frustrating for everyone, mostly for him of course,” he said.

“Ando is continuing to ride like an absolute champion and I think this series will come down to the wire as far as determining who will take home the title."

“We have a busy month ahead of us to prepare for the last part of the season but the Team are all working well and our various mechanics are all putting in 100% to make sure their riders are going to have a great set up for these final rounds."
