Unedited notes from live text update page on Saturday

  • 1700 - Last lap now, Hatton holds on to take the win on the track and has the victory on combined time to cement the top spot on the podium, Leigh-Smith second, Galvin third, Esler fourth, Thompson fifth, Scott sixth, Campbell seventh, Metcher eighth. That's us done for today.  See ya all tomorrow...
  • 1658 - Hatton still out in front, Leigh-Smith up to second place and has pulled a couple of tenths back on Hatton. Galvin third, Esler fourth, two laps to run
  • 1656 - 125s away now, terrible start for Blake Leigh-Smith who was shuffled down a few spots in turn one, Hatton out in front from Galvin
  • 1652 - 125 race about to be restarted
  • 1646 - 125 race well underway now, Blake Leigh-Smith the leader from Tom Hatton and Peter Galvin. But with four laps to run Brent Rigoli had a major highside coming onto the pit straight which brought the red flag out to halt proceedings
  • 1626 - Barnes takes the FX Cup race win from Grasser, Williams, Casella, Whiteley, Domashcenz, Fraser and Kokshoorn
  • 1623 - FX Cup race away now, one into the sand at turn one but okay and digs himself out. Barnes romping away from the field to have a five second lead by half race distance
  • 1612 - Superbike Grid (Subject to confirmation)

  • 1610 - Jamie does a 55.7 on that final lap. he doesn't improve but it doesn't matter he already has pole, then alongside him on the front row is Fergusson, Giles and Johnson, four different manufacturers on the front row!
  • 1609 - Jamie crosses the line as the flag comes out, so he has a final flyer to try and improve the time that already has him safe on pole...
  • 1608 - Shannon improves, down to 55.8, on the front row now unless someone knocks him off in this final minute...
  • 1607 - Shannon goes through with a 56.1, fails to improve. Giles also a 56.1 and doesn't improve
  • 1606 - Gilesy and Shannon both on what look like they might be fast laps... three minutes to run...
  • 1604 - Jamie down to 55.39 now....  Krusty back in pit lane, getting a new tyre but it looks to have been out of the warmers for a while so Krusty might take some time to get it up to temp.. four minutes remaining, both Yamaha men back in pit lane again now... Shannon on track
  • 1603 - Gilesy heading out now, that makes all the big boys currently circulating apart from Shannon Johnson who is just getting some new rubber under his Kawasaki
  • 1600 - Krusty just went out with a new tyre so did Bugden. Jamie and Dan both getting new rubber now, Gilesy just came in
  • 1557 - Superbikes back on track now. Rider down was local champion Stuart Adams
  • 1547 - Red flag out for some reason, must be a rider down over the back of the circuit, 11 minutes to run in this session. Order at the moment on combined times is

  • 1542 - Jamie Stauffer goes oh so close to knocking Krusty off pole with a 55.776,  just one thousandth away from Krusty's 55.775 from this morning and with Gilesy on 55.796 that makes for one hell of a close top three!
  • 1539 - Gilesy the only man going real quick in this final Superbike qualifier, improving his time from this morning down to a 55.79 to climb up to second overall on combined time, Krusty on top with this morning's 55.77.
  • 1526 - Mick Kelly ran into some problems and had to return to the pits from a very safe race lead. Craig McMartin also had some dramas and drifted back to third place while James Van Rooyen was promoted to the win from Paul Roe. Taborsky fourth, Collins fifth, Smith sixth, Bryan seventh. Superbike qualifying next
  • 1523 - With two laps to run Mick Kelly has a 7 second lead over McMartin who in turn has three seconds on Van Rooyen and Paul Roe
  • 1517 - Pro Twins thundering off the line now, Mick Kelly immediately streaking away to a healthy lead over the bigger capacity machines
  • 1506 - Soutar experienced some problems and returned to pitlane which left Adam Treasure to take the win ahead of Stacey Sellar and Mick Alton scored the final spot on the podium ahead of Taylor, Levy, Walker, Lawrance, Grubb, Robbins and Thompson rounds out the top ten. Pro Twins race up next then Superbike final qualifying
  • 1500 - Shane Soutar is walking away with this first sidecar race from Stacey Sellar and Adam Treasure
  • 1451 - Sidecar race next, followed by the opening bout in the Pro Twins war and then it is Superbike final qualifying
  • 1450 - Provisional Supersport Grid

  • 1446 - O'Halloran the only man to really improve on his time this afternoon, a 57.64 makes him third quickest in this session and fifth quickest overall.  Riders on their final lap now...
  • 1442 - Krusty second quickest in this session now with a 57.61, but still not as fast as his 57.3 from this morning
  • 1441 - 5 minutes to run in the session, don't think provisional pole sitter Jamie Stauffer has turned a lap yet in this second session.
  • 1435 - Crowe obviously likes the Wanneroo layout, he was quick yesterday and he is second quickest in this session, down to 57.68
  • 1429 - Bikes back on track now
  • 1424 - The session will be underway again shortly
  • 1419 - Aitchison the quickest man in this session thus far... Hold on... Red flag... Somebody down at the end of the main straight... 19 minutes remaining in the session. Fair bit of carnage here at Wanneroo today with quite a few tasting the WA sand.
  • 1412 - Supersport final qualifying on now, conditions perhaps even more favourable than this morning. A lot of the fast boys won't do too many laps in this session however as the tyres they qualify on are the tyres they race on and they won't want to wear them down too much before tomorrow's two 20 lap races...
  • 1404 - Cartwright has problems... The Queenslander looking down at his FZ-1 Yamaha, his engine still appears to be going strong but something has him taking things easy... That hands the win to Rattenbury, Cartwright cruises home for second place while James Van Rooyen rounds out the podium ahead of the BMW pairing of Graeme Wilshaw and Stuart Fripp on their K 1200 R machines. Middleton the next man home ahead of Mills, Collins, Cane and Smith
  • 1403 - Cartwright and Rattenbury both dipping into the 59s, Cartwright starting to eke out a small advantage though...
  • 1402 - Cartwright to the lead with three laps to run but Rattenbury right with him and the duo look set to battle all the way to the flag. Van Rooyen couldn't match their pace and by the halfway point of the race had drifted back to the tune of four seconds from the leading duo
  • 1359 - Nakedbikes away for their first race for the weekend. Rattenbury and Cartwright away well with James Van Rooyen in pursuit

  • 1346 - After this mess is cleared up it will be the opening Nakedbike bout before Supersport final qualifying gets underway
  • 1342 - Some confusion then descended on Wanneroo as the riders were called back around to the grid for some reason... With some officials running up and down pitlane. Rare that we have such confusion at an ASC round these days as the continuity of personnel that we enjoy these days from round to round generally avoids such drama.  But I guess the occasional hiccup can be forgiven. The riders were then sent the opposite way down the main straight to the first pit entry as the ambulance and Racesafe crews were still attending to Ben Henry in the esses.
  • 1340 - Last lap board and Henry only 3-tenths behind,  they catch a lapper in the esses, Andrews through, Henry touches him, Henry goes down and tumbles hard, he is conscious and moving but man that has got to hurt, lots... Red flag is out, so that means the result might go back a lap.  Andrews the winner, Henry was in second but as he caused the red flag I don't think he will get credited with second which would promote Scibberas into second and Higgins onto the podium.
  • 1338 - He just might.... Henry back within 6-tenths of a second now with two to run...  Scibberas third, Higgins fourth...
  • 1337 - Henry just tried a huge out braking move into the final turn but ran predictably very wide and lost a heap of ground in the attempted move, he went from only a couple of tenths down to over 1.1 seconds down on Andrews. Three laps to go, will it be long enough to allow him to get back in touch with the Suzuki mounted Andrews...?
  • 1335 - Still Andrews out in front as they start lap three, the Suzuki man with a 4-tenths of a second advantage over Henry but Henry is closing...
  • 1333 - As they start lap two it is Andrews from Scibberas who is now being challenged by local tyre Ben Henry. Higgins fourth and ex dirt tracker turner supermoto rider now turned road racer Josh Houwen
  • 1331 - The Superstockers are away for their opening race of the day now and it was Ian Andrews who got off the line the best to lead the field through turn one...
  • 1310 - The Superbike rider down was Ashley Roe, early indications are he may have broken a leg. He came down at the tricky Skyline corner
  • 1300 - Lunch break now, after lunch we have the first Superstock and Nakedbike races before the Supersport final qualifying session
  • 1257 - Provisional Results from Superbike First Qualifying

  • 1256 - Red flag out now also, somebody has gone down over the back of the circuit...
  • 1255 - Chequered flag out now, so last flying lap for the Superbikes in this first qualifier
  • 1254 - Krusty on top of the charts now, 55.77
  • 1252 - Allerton just left the pits as Krusty just came in for a new rear hoop, only 2 minutes 30 seconds to run... Holland into the 55s, a 55.92 to go second quickest.. Get set for times to tumble...  Krusty just left pitlane with his rear Michelin spinning... He is only going to have time for one flyer after this out lap. Dan it pitlane, Gilesy in too
  • 1250 - Allerton in the pits now for a new rear tyre, 4 minutes remaining in this first Superbike qualifier. The Joe Rocket Honda Superbikes sporting what looks like a new exhaust system this weekend, a dual outlet Jardine system that looks different to the previous Jardine pipes they were using earlier in the year
  • 1246 - Krusty just came back into the pits, again talking to his mechanics and discussing tyres with Michelin man. New rear slick going into the back of the Fireblade now.  Holland leaving pitlane. Krusty heading back out now also, Dan in for a new rear Dunlop. Gilesy heading out now
  • 1245 - Bugden just left pitlane, Holland is third quickest and is currently in pit lane. 9 minutes to run
  • 1243 - Bugden in the pits, talking with Yoshimura Suzuki Team Manager Phil Tainton but no work being done to the bike at present. Hold that, new rubber going into the GSX-R now. Gilesy just pulled in also.
  • 1242 - Jamie still half a second off Shannon Johnson's pole time from last year on the Yamaha, a 55.354.  Jamie's best thus far today a 55.87, 12 minutes to run in this session and he will almost certainly improve before this session is out. Well just as I typed that he crossed the line to go marginally quicker, down to 55.81 now
  • 1240 - Krusty back out now. Some of the boys backing it into turn one quite nicely.  Check out some images from yesterday
  • 1238 - Jamie just came in for a new rear hoop. Krusty in the pits again explaining things with Michelin man Dale Topp. A different front tyre going in Krusty's Fireblade now.  Jamie back out on track
  • 1234 - Jamie down to 55.87 now
  • 1233 - The Joe Rocket Honda squad just checking how much travel Krusty has been using on the Showa forks while Michelin man Dale takes the tyre temp and makes some notes... Krusty heading back out now...
  • 1231 - Jamie quickest thus far with a 56.03 but they will go quicker than that... Krusty back in the pits for some tweaks, his best so far a 56.1
  • 1228 - Superbikes back on track and circulating now, every rider on track to take advantage of the fine conditions
  • 1224 - The rider down is Troy Elliott.  The Honda Racesafe crew are taking every precaution and are carefully in the process of taking him to the medical centre to be checked out. Bikes are expected to be back on track very shortly
  • 1213 - Red flag out in the Superbike session already, a rider has acquainted himself with the WA sand when he speared off at the end of the back straight.  He is in good hands with the Honda Racesafe crew.  I think it is fair to say that these days of the ASC the medical response teams are truly world class.  In fact I would go as far to say quite possibly the best in the world, the Racesafe guys are on the job quicker than you realise someone has gone down, they streak to the scene from nowhere in their hotted up Commodore and doors fly open before it has even completely stopped it seems sometimes and the medical people are with the rider in seconds. It really is quite fantastic to see, and it must really give the riders great peace of mind.
  • 1210 - FX Cup final qualifier done and dusted now, Whiteley on pole with a 59.9 ahead of Barnes (60.0), Fraser (60.1) while Van Rooyen rounds out the front row. Superbikes heading out of the pits now. Good track conditions here, fine and a moderate temperature should make things near perfect for the Superbike boys, a fair breeze is blowing as normal and will give them something to think about but generally conditions are excellent. There is a possibility of rain later tomorrow to throw a cat among the pigeons...  Maybe some people will be praying for rain so they can have a chance to catch Jamie.....
  • 1146 - Sidecar session just wrapped up with Soutar on top from Chivas, Alton, Treasure, Sellar, Taylor and Levy. FX Cup out for their final qualifier now, then it is time for the Superbikes to hit the track for the first time today
  • 1130 - Full results from this morning thus far - - Superstock QP2 - Nakedbike QP2 - Supersport QP1 - 125 QP2 - Twins QP2 - Sidecars on track at the moment, then it is the FX Cup boys followed by the Superbikes out for their first qualifier around noon
  • 1123 - Sidecars heading out for final qualifying now
  • 1118 - Pro Twins final qualifier wrapping up now and Micky Kelly is quickest thus far with a 58.6, McMartin second with 59.1 followed by Roe (60.5) and Van Rooyen (60.6).
  • 1102 - Full Results thus far for this morning - Superstock QP2 - Nakedbike QP2 - Supersport QP1 -
  • 1058 - 125 Final Qualifying just wrapped up and Simmonds has pole with a 61.1 ahead of local lad Tom Hatton (61.46), Queensland youngster Blake Leigh-Smith (61.49), Rhys Moller (62.2), Brent Rigoli (62.2), Peter Galvin (62.4), Malcolm Esler (62.8) and Cath Thompson (62.8), followed by Campbell, Scott, Humphreys, Metcher, Laing-Hughes
  • 1040 - The 125 Final Qualifier was stopped for a while after a crash had to be cleared, they are back out on track shortly
  • 1025 - Another fine day at Wanneroo,  Supersport first qualifying just wrapped up with Jamie knocking on the door of a 56!
