Unedited notes from live text update page on Sunday

  • 1631 - Points - Superbike - Supersport - Superstock - 125 - Twins - Nakeds - Sidecar - Closing this down, full results from all classes will be up later tonight
  • 1610 - A great battle to the line but it is Blake Leigh-Smith who take the victory by a tenth of a second over Hatton while Simmonds rounded out the podium a few bike lengths behind.  Thompson 4th, Rigoli 5th, Galvin 6th, Esler 7th, Scott 8th
  • 1605 - The final 125 race is on now and it is Tom Hatton battling with Leigh-Smith and Simmonds fighting over the lead
  • 1602 - I was a bit remiss in my earlier comments about Gilesy being A-okay.  In fact he took a solid knock to the head and has hurt both his ankles, he will go off to hospital later on to have a check over and to find out whether he his ankles are just sprained and bruised or whether he has actually fractured something.  Not what you need one week away from the next round...
  • 1534 - Believe the rider down in the basin was local MX star Matt Battista. Provisional Combined Results from Superbike Race Two

  • 1532 - Krusty definitely the winner, second place either Holland or Jamie Stauffer... Shannon Johnson fourth followed by Dan Stauffer and Robert Bugden
  • 1529 - The race has been declared and half points will be awarded for this race.  That does Gilesy some favours as his foes will not gain too much ground out of his DNF... I think Krusty will be given the win on combined time.... Will let you know when the results have come through.... Yes we believe Krusty gets the win and Holland might have got second
  • 1528 - Shannon Johnson challenging Dan Stauffer now... Red Flag again... Rider down in the basin...
  • 1526 - Krusty gets away well and leads Dan Stauffer and Robert Bugden... Holland didn't get a great run off the line and will have his work cut out for him.... Jamie takes the lead late on the opening lap of the re-start, leads Krusty, Bugden up to third now and Dan Stauffer back to fourth
  • 1522 - Riders on the grid now, Stroud is repeatedly trying to get his Suzuki going, after about ten goes he finally got the machine fired up, they are away on their warm up laps now, then we will have a re-start for eight laps...
  • 1515 - Wicksy being stretchered into the back of the ambulance now and will be taken to the medical centre to be checked out.
  • 1514 - Not sure if there was something on the track to bring those riders down, they both crashed on the exit of turn one but not sure if Shawn was making a pass when it happened... Gilesy is fine, his machine carried on upright for around 200 metres by my estimation and is in the middle of the grass between the pit straight and the middle of the esses, his bike did a quarter of a lap cross country without a rider!
  • 1512 - Gilesy down, Luck Wicks down... Red Flag is out with eight laps remaining. Gilesy is up and fine, looks uninjured but Wicksy is hurt and in the hands of the Honda Racesafe squad.
  • 1511 - Holland got baulked by a backmarker on that lap...  The race pace has settled around 56.4,  Giles recorded a 56.03 early in the race for the fastest lap thus far but Krusty was quick also early on, 56.07
  • 1510 - The leaders starting to encounter some lapped traffic now... The fight for the win will be Giles and Fergusson, Holland is pulling away from Jamie Stauffer but he is three seconds behind the leading duo...
  • 1509 - Russell Holland gets Jamie at the halfway point of the race. Fergusson looiking for a way past Gilesy...
  • 1507 - Yoshimura Suzuki boss Phil Tainton pacing in pitlane... I don't think I can remember Phil looking so nervous... Krusty is catching his man...
  • 1506 - Krusty pulled a tenth back out of Shawn on that lap, Holland all over the back of Jamie now, he will be making a pass soon...
  • 1505 - Krusty has gapped Jamie, but Shawn still has a handy advantage... Holland only 6-tenths behind Jamie now... Shannon Johnson in fifth place and can't quite match their pace at this stage...
  • 1504 - Gilesy pulling away a little, down to a 56.03 that time around...  Fergusson up to second place now, 6-tenths behind Gilesy...
  • 1503 - Russell Holland closing in on Dan Stauffer for fourth place, Shannon Johnson picking up his pace. Gilesy the quickest man on that lap with a 56.1, only a tenth behind Jamie, Krusty there too... Gilesy to the lead on to the main straight... 15 laps to run... Holland takes fourth place from Dan with a brave move into turn one
  • 1501 - Jamie looks to be chasing the front a little through the final turn, I might be wrong but Jamie's Yamaha doesn't look to be steering as sweetly as he would like, nonetheless he retains the advantage over Giles, Fergusson the quickest man on lap two with a 56.0 and trying to find his way past Giles,  the two side by side across the line to start lap three, the pair touch in turn one, but again they remain upright, this could play into the hands of Jamie...
  • 1500 - Jamie gets a great run off the line and leads Giles through turn one, Krusty nearly touched Giles but they all remain upright. Dan Stauffer away well this time too, running fourth.  Jamie and Shawn both did a 59 from a standing start, incredible stuff
  • 1455 - Superbike up next, should be away in around five minutes
  • 1440 - McMartin takes the win from Roe, Van Rooyen rounds out the podium, Taborsky home fourth, Collins fifth, Smith sixth and Bryan brings up the tail end for seventh.  Superbikes up next
  • 1437 - McMartin leads by 1.5 seconds with two laps to run, Van Rooyen a further four seconds back in third place.
  • 1432 - McMartin in the lead from Roe, Van Rooyen third.  Only eight starters in this race and the field already down to seven following Kelly's demise
  • 1430 - Pro Twins away and Mick Kelly 's Ducati lets go off the start line in a big smoky way to cap off a terrible weekend for the Mildura man
  • 1420 - Soutar takes the win while Chivas won the battle for second from Sellar and Treasure, Alton fifth, Hair sixth
  • 1415 - Chivas was the early leader but Soutar went through to the lead with five laps to run.
  • 1410 - Three wheelers out next, then Pro Twins followed by the Superbike men out to wow the crowd.  And speaking of crowds, we have a ripper crowd here today. Well a ripper crowd for Aussie Superbike anyway, but not quite in the league of the 40,000 strong Sunday crowd here a couple of weeks ago for the V8 Supercars. There was a good radio campaign late this week here in Perth that would have helped things along, and of course the major newspapers in WA give the event great coverage. NewsLtd's Sunday newspaper over here, The Sunday Times, devoted the back page of their motoring liftout to the event for last week and also today.
  • 1408 - Russell Holland helped out the commentators in that race and did a great job.  Ex WA rider Scott Tulk also helping to carry the series commentator...
  • 1404 - Jamie takes it, Aitchison home second just behind.  Geronomi got the better of Allerton in the closing stages of the final lap to make it an all Yamaha podium. Allerton fourth, O'Halloran fifth then it was Staring, Crowe, Seaton, Fergusson, Greedy, Smith, Clarke.
  • 1403 - Last lap board, Jamie has 2-tenths on Aitchison... Allerton has 3-tenths on Geronomi... O'Halloran looks safe for fifth...
  • 1401 - Geronomi got baulked a little by a backmarker and Allerton makes his move a few corners later.  Aitchison staying with Jamie
  • 1359 - Jamie makes his move with five laps to run, can he pull away...?  Mick Kelly pulling into the pits with some problems
  • 1356 - Into the second half of the race now Jamie still right on Aitchison's tail cowl, Geronomi in third place four seconds further back and Allerton now hounding him for that third place.  O'Halloran fourth but coming under pressure from Bryan Staring
  • 1353 - Seaton back past Staring, Krusty also in that group, as is O'Halloran and Crowe,  Greedy a little further back in tenth place, Mick Kelly 11th
  • 1352 - Staring past Krusty and then gets Seaton for fifth.
  • 1351 - Seaton pushes Krusty back to sixth place now, Staring and Crowe right behind Krusty.  Allerton trying to chase down Geronomi for third place but has 1.5 seconds to try and make up,  Aitchison and Stauffer are a further 1.5 seconds ahead of Geronomi
  • 1350 - Allerton gets Fergusson for fifth, Seaton closes onto Krusty's tail now. Jamie stalking Aitchison up front...  I would say it is only a matter of time...
  • 1348 - Jamie chasing down to Aitchison now, the gap down to 4-tenths now.  Geronomi has pulled away from Fergusson to make it Yamaha 1-2-3
  • 1347 - Jamie gets Krusty at the end of the back straight for second place, Aitchison has 8-tenths of a second lead.  Jamie runs a little wide down the back of the circuit though but gathers it back up, Geronomi pushes Krusty back to fourth with an aggressive move.  Krusty won't like that...
  • 1346 - As they start lap to it is still Aitchison over Fergusson, Jamie Stauffer up to third ahead of Geronomi, Allerton, Seaton, Crowe and Greedy
  • 1345 - Supersports away and it is Aitchison and Fergusson away the best, the Yamaha man with his nose in front
  • 1331 - Supersports up next
  • 1325 - Cartwright takes the win from Rattenbury but with the ten second penalty Rattenbury will be demoted to fourth while Van Rooyen will be promoted to second place and Fripp scores a podium on the BMW.
  • 1323 - Cartwright into the lead now, has four-tenths over Rattenbury,  James Van Rooyen third a further three seconds behind. Fripp a further 12 seconds down in fourth place. Cartwright the fastest lap thus far with a 59.05
  • 1320 - Rattenbury up front in this Nakedbike final encounter but he has a ten second jump start penalty so will have his work cut out for him to win by that much
  • 1311 - Nakedbikes up next
  • 1308 - Full Results from races thus far today - Supersport R1 - Superbike R1 - Superstock R2 - Naked R2 - 125 R2 - Twins R2 - Sidecar R2 - FX Cup R2
  • 1307 - Ben Henry led the first laps before Chris Trounson took his turn at the front for a few laps but it was Ben Henry who took the win from Trounson, Quinn rounded out the podium ahead of Houwen, Kokshoorn, Sciberras, Yates and Higgins
  • 1259 - Superstockers away for their final race of the day and it is local Ben Henry the early race leader
  • 1236 - Lunch break now
  • 1233 - The commentators are still calling Jamie Stauffer the winner...  But I am very confident the results printed below are correct.
  • 1231 - I believe that finishing order has now firmed up. Etheridge 11th, Stronach 12th, Fergusson salvages 13th after that mishap, local MX star turned road racer Matt Battista scores 14th, Roe 15th
  • 1230 - The finishing order as I see it, Giles, J Stauffer, Johnson, Allerton, Holland, Stroud, Bugden, Charlton, D Stauffer, Maxwell
  • 1228 - Jamie crosses the line first but I believe Gilesy has just got the win, Johnson third, Allerton fourth, Holland fifth, and Stroud sixth on combined time. Awaiting for confirmation but think that Gilesy has it
  • 1227 - A lapper held up Gilesy on that lap, Jamie alongside down the straight, but Gilesy has the inside line but Jamie takes the advantage still... He has to get a little ground on the Suzuki to take the win on combined time, if Shawn finishes second right on his tail Shawn will still take the win...
  • 1226 - Gilesy really quite loose coming onto the main straight nearly every lap, the back end of his Suzuki wriggling and wagging away even when upright
  • 1225 - Jamie responds, the gap was out to nearly a second but Jamie has now halved that
  • 1224 - Johnson has pulled away from Holland, Gilesy may have sneaked away to the tune of another couple of bike lengths over Jamie that lap
  • 1222 - Johnson up to third after getting the better of Holland. The 4-tenths gap between Giles and Jamie Stauffer is remaining static, Jamie perhaps closes a little in some of the turns but down the hill the Suzuki has the motor
  • 1221 - Jamie closing on Gilesy now, seven laps to run.  Holland is now four seconds behind them in third and coming under attack from Johnson and Stroud...
  • 1219 - Fergusson had been making a big effort to get Gilesy but just ran into the sand at turn one and was down near the back of the field by the time he dug himself out, that previous lap Gilesy had done a 56.1 and Krusty a 56.2.   Krusty's demise promotes Jamie to second place, Holland has lost touch with them, his tyres may have gone off or some sort of mechanical dramas for the Pirelli man
  • 1218 - Gilesy's Suzuki horsepower is helping him here today, his pursuers close around the back of the circuit but on the run down the hill the Suzuki has the motor to pull that couple of bike lengths back. Stephen got some great shots of him monoing over the crest at around 250kph yesterday that will go up on the site this week
  • 1217 - The leading quartet have bunched up a little now, only 7-tenths covering the four riders, Holland looking dangerous...
  • 1216 - Stroud has found something today it seems, the Kiwi putting in some good laps to be up to a strong fifth position in this re-start. Gilesy has four tenths over Fergusson, then it is Jamie Stauffer, Russell Holland and Andrew Stroud
  • 1215 - Gilesy with a lot of wheelspin onto the main straight, still Fergusson and Jamie giving chase
  • 1214 - Gilesy away in the lead again with Johnson and Fergusson in tow,  Johnson made a mistake out of the basin though and lost a couple of positions.. Gilesy with a cracker of an opening lap has stretched himself a comfortable lead.. A few drops of drizzle dripping appearing again now and then.... Not nice...
  • 1213 - The riders are rolling up to their starting positions now, geez the rims on that R1-SP look trick!
  • 1211 - The weather is looking a bit dodgy... As though we could get a downpour before this race gets underway proper, a couple of spots appearing here and there.... Just enough to make you nervous....
  • 1210 - Superbikes away on their warm up lap in preparation for the re-start
  • 1208 - The bike down was certainly a Yamaha but doesn't have enough bodywork left on it for me to tell what number it is. The rider highsided out of turn one and both him and his bike slid more than 50 metres along the tarmac right into the middle of the esses
  • 1204 - Holland the quickest man thus far with a 56.04 but has about a second and a half to go before he can get on terms with the leaders. He will catch Fergusson quite soon though I think.  Red flag, rider down at the esses, he is okay but his bike in a treacherous position. Not sure who it was, so we will have a two part race, 15 laps in the re-start
  • 1203 - None of the front runners taking too many aggressive risks just yet and it doesn't look as though anybody will break away.  Jamie Stauffer up to third place after getting the better of Fergusson.  Holland is closing on the leading quartet...
  • 1202 - Holland takes 5th from Bugden in a big move, the leading group is Giles, Johnson, Fergusson and Jamie Stauffer, only half a second covers the leading quartet now, can't get much closer than that!
  • 1201 - Shannon Johnson the quickest man on lap two and closing on Giles, Fergusson still third ahead of Jamie Stauffer. Bugden 5th, Holland 6th ..
  • 1200 - As they start lap two Gilesy has half a second on Johnson, Fergusson and Jamie Stauffer. 60.2 from a standing start from Gilesy, the Yoshi Suzuki man has a clear track while the others fight it out, this could be good for the Suzuki man
  • 1159 - Superbike away and it is Shawn Giles that leads them through turn one. The commentators think Aitchison is up in the leading group, funny, he doesn't ride Superbike....
  • 1144 - There is no video feed here this weekend as there is no A/V truck to do the local broadcast. Apparently it is being taped for TV, but I can't see too many cameras around. Superbikes on the grid now but still a fair wait until they get underway
  • 1138 - Superbikes up next, sky is overcast and there is a chance of rain just to make the riders nervous... The Yoshimura Suzuki squad are sporting some new pipes this weekend. They only received them a few days ago and the bikes are not perfectly tuned for them as yet so Gilesy's GSX-R is really popping and farting under brakes, but it shrieks like a banshee when he is up it and sounds great. The new pipes have given the GSX-R more mumbo from 7000rpm up according to Yoshimura Suzuki boss Phil Tainton
  • 1135 - Barnes takes the win from Whiteley, Van Rooyen and Williams
  • 1128 - FX Cup race two underway now, Van Rooyen leading the way from Whiteley and Barnes
  • 1125 - There was some contact in the Supersport race earlier on when Aitchison and Allerton had a coming together where Aitchison's bike took out Allerton's brake lever
  • 1123 - Soutar wrapped up the sidecar race by 8 seconds over Treasure, Chivas rounded out the podium ahead of Bruce, Taylor, Walker, Sellar and Levy. FX Cup race up next
  • 1102 - McMartin wins Pro Twins race two, Roe second, Van Rooyen third then it is Taborsky, Collins, Smith and Bryan rounds out the seven finishers, the race only had eight starters...
  • 1053 - Pro Twins away now for their second race of the weekend. Kelly was away well but before the end of lap one was coasting back to the pits, his Ducati not playing the game this weekend. That leaves McMartin alone out in front, Roe giving chase
  • 1048 - Full Results from Australian Supersport Race 1 - Superstock R2 - Naked R2 - Pro Twins up next
  • 1045 - Blake Leigh-Smith takes the win by 2-tenths ahead of Hatton. Simmonds third, Rigoli fourth, then Galvin, Thompson, Esler, Scott, Campbell, Humphreys and Metcher
  • 1042 - Blake Leigh-Smith to the lead now, Hatton trying to come back at him. Simmonds in third place with a couple of bike lengths over Galvin and Rigoli who are still dicing
  • 1039 - Hatton has a coupe of tenths over Leigh-Smith now, Galvin, Rigoli and Simmonds battling over third place
  • 1036 - 125s are away now and it is Blake Leigh-Smith and Tom Hatton fighting for the lead on lap one
  • 1030 - 125 GP up next, and it is not raining and it is not dry... Track conditions would best be described as dodgy and unknown, so turn one will be a case of shut your eyes and hope for the best I reckon.
  • 1025 - I have held my finger off the keyboard long enough on this subject, but can do so no more, the commentary here this weekend is the worst I have ever experienced. Rather than informing the crowd, all weekend they have been misinforming the crowd through a complete lack of knowledge about the rules. Somebody, get them a damn rule book and make them read it!
  • 1023 - Word is that results will be awarded in that race on combined time over 18 laps...  On my figures that will make Jamie Stauffer the winner from Glenn Allerton but I don't have the official word on that as yet
  • 1022 - And just to throw something else in the mix, some light rain has started falling here at Wanneroo...
  • 1019 - It appears that under the rules a race that has had two red flags has to be called as abandoned... So it appears that no points may be awarded from this race...  When the officials decide what is going on and make it final we will let you know what the go is.
  • 1016 - Jamie through on Fergusson, I think we are going to have another red flag, a rider highsided onto the straight and his machine is in the middle of the track, yep red flag is out... I think the race will be called now and by my reckoning Jamie Stauffer will be the winner and Allerton possibly second, we await official word...
  • 1015 - Jamie has got away from Staring and Geronomi now, and closes on to the back of the Honda men after putting in a 57.7, Aitchison has a handy lead though, but not enough to put him in the lead on combined time... He needs to come home more than three seconds ahead of Jamie to take the win and he only has two seconds on him at this stage of the race...
  • 1011 - They are off the line in the re-start, Aitchison gets a much better start this time around and takes the lead on the track ahead of Allerton, Geronomi third, Fergusson fourth, Jamie Stauffer back in sixth after suffering at the re-start. Aitchison and Allerton pulling away on track, I would say Allerton will be the race leader on combined time at this stage of the race. Fergusson past Geronimi now for third place. Three laps into the re-start now and Aitchison has pulled away from Allerton, Fergusson closing on Allerton but Aitchison has a clear track and he could win this one on combined time if he plays his cards right. Jamie Stauffer battling with Bryan Staring over fifth place, the championship leader suffering the worst in this re-start. Fergusson through on Allerton now for second place on track, but Aitchison has a 1.5 seconds lead in this leg....
  • 1001 - The riders on the grid now waiting for word on the re-start. Result will be decided on combined time, standings as they will start are as follows

  • 0959 -Aitchison past Fergusson and up to third, but then the red flag came out with nine laps remaining. The decision I presume taking for safety as an oil down on the entry to the final turn here at Wanneroo could make for a melee of titanic proportions.
  • 0958 - A major engine failure down the hill for one of the bikes , he pulls into pitlane with smoke pouring from his machine and waving for an extinguisher
  • 0957 - Halfway point of the race now and they are already encountering lapped traffic, this could have a major impact on the results... Halfway point this is the state of affairs

  • 0956 - Krusty lost some ground on that lap, possibly a mistake or could be a problem. He certainly doesn't need any more bad luck this year!  Just over half a second between Jamie and Glenn up front
  • 0955 - Jamie has responded to the challenge and picked up his game again, back down to 57.4, a couple of tenths quicker than the Honda men on that lap
  • 0954 - The race order with 13 laps to run, Stauffer, Allerton, Fergusson, Aitchison, Staring, Geronomi, Seaton, Crowe
  • 0953 - Allerton was half a second quicker than Jamie on that last lap, the gap back down to 2-tenths, Fergusson a couple of tenths behind Allerton. Aitchison in fourth 1.9 seconds behind the leading trio and being stalked by Bryan Staring
  • 0952 - Fergusson looking for a way past Allerton now and the fastest man on lap five. The Honda pair have pulled some ground back on Jamie, this time the Yamaha man might not have it all his own way after all...
  • 0951 - Jamie did a 57.2 on lap four to stretch away a little, Fergusson starting to catch Allerton.
  • 0950 -Jamie Stauffer took the lead at the end of the main straight and led Allerton across the line to start lap three. Not sure what happened to Jason O'Halloran from the start but he is way up the back of the field.
  • 0948 - The front row all got away cleanly but it was Allerton who had the inside line to turn one and stuffed it in under Jamie. As they crossed the line to start lap two that order remained the same with Allerton a tenth ahead of Jamie Stauffer while Fergusson and Aitchison were a few tenths further behind. A long way to go yet though, they only just started lap two of this 20 lap race
  • 0946 - Supersports on the grid now in readiness for their first race of the weekend. Conditions are overcast with a stiff breeze blowing back down the pit straight.
