Unedited notes from live text update page on Friday

  • 1710 - Shane Soutar is on provisional pole from Doug Chivas, Adam Treasure, Mick Alton, Warren Bruce, Stacey Sellar, Warwick Levy, Chris Lawrance, Chris Grubb while Darryn Walker rounds out the top ten.  That's it for us for today from a damn cold Mallala.  Back tomorrow.
  • 1703 - Sidecars out now for their first qualifier, Soutar leading the way.  Unfortunately we have to shut this facility down now before we freeze solid in the Mallala media centre
  • 1651 - Cold morning with possible early fog and likely scattered showers are the forecasts for Saturday and Sunday.  But then again, when isn't it damn cold in the mornings at Mallala!
  • 1650 - Sidecars out next
  • 1646 - Red Flag out to put a halt to the Superstock session and the first qualifier has been declared with Andrews on provisional pole ahead of Liminton, Casella, Chapman, Fraser, Kokshoorn, Van Rooyen, Trounson, Domaschenz and Barnes.  Not sure what caused the red flag but did see an ambulance meandering it's way down towards the Southern Hairpin
  • 1640 - FX Cup first qualifying on now and the trend of some Superstock runners entering the FX Cup class also to gain more track time. Superstock runner Ian Andrews on top thus far with a 62.5 on his Superstock 2004 GSX-R600.  Andrews is currently second in the Superstock Championship which is very good going on a two year old Suzuki compared to the majority of the class which are all on the latest and greatest 600cc machines that money can buy
  • 1626 - Provisional Results from Australian Superbike Friday Practice
  • 1623 - Early indications are that Glenn Allerton looks to have no broken bones but the trip to hospital is more for observation due to the heaby knock to his head. But before he left the track he was completely situation aware which is a positive sign that he should be back in action tomorrow all going well
  • 1622 - That 66.98 by Jamie still sees him atop the leaderboard, next best is Krusty on 77.55 from Holland (77.73) and Johnson (77.84)
  • 1615 - The big dip in turn one certainly doesn't look to have got any smaller this year, the suspension on the bikes through there looks to get a real workout and I imagine that dip would have to be extremely unsettling when pushing for quick times. Of course a lot of people do run on at that corner which is fine unless somebody has just crashed there beforehand...
  • 1611 - Jamie just dipped into the 66s....
  • 1607 - None of the fast boys look to be trying too hard in this session yet. Shannon Johnson has improved his time markedly though which is good sign for fans of the big green meanie that is the ZX-10R
  • 1605 - Allerton took a heavy knock in that earlier fall and is on his way to hospital now.  He did knock himself out but is now conscious but needs to get checked out at hospital
  • 1604 - Conditions are cold and windy here at Mallala today. Far from ideal, and the situation is unlikely to improve over the course of the weekend with rain forecast.
  • 1600 - Superbikes back on track now for their final practice session.  Glenn Allerton is being looked after in the medical centre.  We believe Shawn Giles will sit this session out and save himself for qualifying tomorrow as he recovers from that nasty crash last weekend at Wanneroo
  • 1544 - Results from qualifying sessions held thus far - Superstock - Nakedbike - 125 GP - Pro Twins
  • 1539 - As quick as the final Superbike session of the day got underway it was red flagged only moments later when Glenn Allerton highsided himself out of the Northern Hairpin. Racesafe personnel are looking after him now
  • 1525 - Craig McMartin leads the Pro Twins First Qualifier with four minutes remaining on 70.82, Kelly is next best on 70.99 then it is James Van Rooyen and Richard Liminton
  • 1506 - 125 first qualifying wrapping up now, Simmonds has taken provisional pole with a 74.4 from Inkster (75.2), Campbell (75.2) ad Hatton (75.5)
  • 1443 - Results from Supersport Second Practice
  • 1435 - 5 minutes left in this Supersport session and Jason O'Halloran is the quickest thus far by a whisker over Jamie, Krusty third ahead of Aitchison, Allerton, Geronomi, Greedy, Staring, Crowe and Waters
  • 1425 - Supersport men on track now for their second and final practice session of the day.  Jamie Stauffer leading the way with 15 minutes remaining in the session on 69.06 ahead of Jason O'Halloran (69.2), Adam Fergusson (69.4) and Shaun Geronomi has continued the good run of form he showed at Wanneroo to be fourth quickest thus far on 69.7
  • 1408 - Results from Nakedbike First Qualifying
  • 1403 - Jon Cartwright the fastest thus far with a 71.9 ahead of Rattenbury on 72.6. Robbie Phillis the fastest of the historic bikes thus far with a 75.0, only a second behind the 1200 BMWs of Fripp and Wilshaw
  • 1346 - Nakedbikes & Forgotten Era machines on track now
  • 1340 - Results from Superstock First Qualifying
  • 1335 - Ian Andrews currently leading this Superstock first qualifier from Brad McConnell, younger brother of British R6 Cup winner Billy McConnelL
  • 1310 - Lunch break now, but all results from this morning's practice sessions are now up. Superstock first qualifying is first cab off the rank after lunch
  • 1244 - Morning Practice Results - Supersport - Superbike - Superstock - 125 - Nakedbike - Twins - Sidecar - FX Cup
  • 1240 - Josh Waters is out there on a Superbike in this practice session. The Supersport rider having a crack on the ZX-10R and currently 11th quickest on a 71.0
  • 1237 - Krusty on top now, 67.4.  Jamie down to 67.7, Bugden third on 68.2. Only a few minutes to run in this first Superbike practice session
  • 1230 - Live at Mallala now, 13 minutes left in the Superbike first practice session and at the moment it is Jamie Stauffer on top with a 68.19 ahead of Russell Holland and Adam Fergusson
