Report (Scott Charlton)

The Australian Superbike Championship travelled to Mallala in South Australia for Round 3 last weekend. With the back-to-back meeting being held just one week after WA, Scott was again competing on board a 2006 stock standard Yamaha R1 Street bike, with Race fairings, an exhaust system and Air filter Down on power, Scott focussed his energy on the set-up and handling of the stock machine. Friday’s Practice was fine and sunny, Scott was 10th quickest in the first session, and although improving his time in the second session, slipped back to 11th position.

Scott qualified on Saturday in 12th position, and was set to start the race from the third row of the grid. Scott continued his improvement throughout the weekend.

In Race 1, Scott managed a strong start, which saw him move up a number of positions on the first lap. Throughout the race Scott gradually moved through the field as a result of the consistency of the Pirelli tyres. Scott finished the race in 7th position, and was 2nd placed Privateer.

Scott continued his improvement in race 2, recording his fastest time for the weekend during this race. Scott again pushed hard and moved through the strong field of National competitors. On the last lap Scott moved into 5th position, unfortunately he ran wide, ran onto the dirty part of the track and lost the front end. Scott managed to pick the bike up and recover, Scott crossed the finish line in 9th place and 4th placed Privateer.

At the conclusion of Round 3, Scott has moved up to 6th place in the Australian Superbike Championship and is still placed 3rd in the
Superbike Privateer Cup. Scott will travel to Queensland Raceway for Round 4 on July 7th - 9th 2006 where he hopes to have a complete race prepared machine, and we look forward to seeing him move up the field.

Scott would like to thank all his sponsors, for without their ongoing support his racing would not be possible! Thankyou to: Tarmac Civil
Constructions, Vern Graham Yamaha, Yamaha Australia, Active Electrical, Complete Waste Haul, G&G South Eastern Electrical, Elgas,
S&R Foot, Acton Electrical, Tiger Angel, Shoei, Sidi, Pirelli, Racers Edge, Goodridge, and Shell.
